Hotel reviews of Cascais, Estoril & Sintra for golf holidays and ...

Review analysis

The Pousada de Cascais has a large bar area spreading below the reception and drinks may also be taken out on the old town square.

In the centre of Cascais overlooking the town’s small beach and harbour the Hotel Baia is close to the town square, which is ringed by the liveliest of the bars and restaurants – just the spot for night owls!

On the western edge of town, beside the old citadel and the new marina with its shops, restaurants, cafés and bars, the Vila Galé Cascais is in a quieter part of town - yet only five minutes on foot to the lively heart of Cascais.

There is a good restaurant and bar in the hotel, with many many more at the nearby marina or in Cascais proper - only a ten-minute stroll away.

The hotel also has a private car-park and is on the right side of town for getting out to Oitavos Dunes and Quinta da Marinha golf courses in no time at all.

A Slice of Spain At Cigala Restaurant

Review analysis
food   menu

Located in London’s Bloomsbury area, Cigala offers a slice of Spain both from its menu and surroundings.

Staples like paella, tapas selections and main meals can all be found on the menu.

The Pimientos del Padron, deep-fried pedron peppers (authentic peppers from Padron, Galicia), were a great substitute for bread to nibble on, before diving into grilled squid with guindilla peppers and mojo verde, and Espinacas a la Catalana – spinach with raisins, garlic and pine nuts.

The Gambas al ajillo, prawns cooked with olive oil, garlic, parsley and chillies ticked the spicy spot perfectly, while the Hidago a la jerezana, pan-fried chicken livers with softened onions and Pedro Ximenez, helped balance out the chilli with its sweet tasting sauce.

The Buey a la brasa, grilled aged 250g ribeye steak with hand cut chips and Churrasco sauce, got the thumbs up from Richard, while the Dorada a la plancha, grilled gilthead bream with broccoli, cream, salted anchovy and guindilla peppers, completely satisfied me.

Shedding Light On The Lampery Restaurant In London

Review analysis

Located close to the Tower of London and Tower Bridge, this eatery takes its name from one of Seething Lane’s most illustrious former residents, Samuel Pepys, and his favourite dish, Lampery Pye.

Food is served throughout the day at The Lampery in the form of authentic British cuisine which uses locally-sourced ingredients.

They were all so tempting, and therefore there was a hard choice to make, but with a little guidance from our knowledgeable host, my guest settled on the Cointreau and passion fruit-based Lampery Martini (£12) which was excellent.

For “The Middle”, there is everything from a take on the famous Lampery Pye which uses a beef cheek recipe, to Cumbrian back bacon chop and lamb rump.

If you are looking for breakfast, lunch or dinner in this historic part of the Capital, and want some good quality and hearty British cuisine matched with highly attentive service, then The Lampery is the place to drop into.
