At The Castle Hotel we aim to capture the essence of a country inn offering a beautiful forty seater restaurant, relaxing bar area for drinking and dining with a range of individually designed rooms.

Sit outside in our bespoke patio area and enjoy the glorious floral displays in summer, or pick up a book from one of our shelves in the library and curl up in front of a blazing fire in winter, there is a space and time here for you to relax and enjoy.

We are situated in a beautiful village location with its very own castle right opposite, Lullingstone Castle & World Gardens is a twenty minute walk away.

We also boost a village shop, butchers and two other restaurants and another pub!

Do the Eynsford to Farningham village walk, it takes about an hour and loops through Eynsford along the fields overlooking the castle into Farningham village with is beautiful river and architecture, with off lead runs for your dog on the way, and of course your four legged friend is always welcome to stay the night and sit with you while you dine in our restaurant.

drinks

Established since 1832, the Castle is a proud feature of Tooting’s bustling high street, serving an impressive array of real ale, craft beer, cocktails and more.

Our bar area is the perfect space for drinks with friends with a great view of our gleaming Meantime Brewery Fresh tanks.

Not only do we have beautiful inside spaces, but we also have a fantastic big beer garden, complete with eight seated huts that can be hired for special occasions and our resident Burger Shack serving the most chin dribbling burgers in town.

Whether you’re planning a birthday party, engagement, Christening or wake, the Castle has a number of bookable spots for private parties.

7/10 (one point deducted for Hoover and use of music as aural riot-dispersal device) Telephone 020-7277 3388 Address 114 Walworth Road, London SE17 Open Mon-Sat, noon-11pm (11.30pm Fri and Sat); Sun 11.30am-10.30pm.

So distressingly seldom do we hear from Jim Davidson these days that catching his two penn'orth on Clive Anderson's recent Radio 4 dissection of political correctness came as a relief.

In its way, Dragon Castle's presence in so dispiritingly hideous a centre of urban deprivation is just as incongruous as finding Jim's sitcom crumpet on the bridge of the USS Enterprise.

Chicken fillet with sweet chilli sauce had a gratifying kick but the meat was average - the same failing that did for grilled lamb in a sour, opinionated Tibetan sauce.

Sweet and sour pork belonged to the upper end of the takeaway market, crispy noodles came with strips of mediocre beef in black bean sauce, but aubergine in a smoky, border-trangressing teriyaki sauce were squidgily caramelised and divine.
