Olympic Studios Café & Dining Room

Review analysis
food

The Olympic Studios boasts not only a state-of-the-art cinema but a café and restaurant too.

The Café and Dining Room on the ground floor is a friendly, welcoming neighbourhood restaurant, open to all serving delicious breakfast, lunch and dinner through the week from 8-11 and midnight on the weekend.

The food is home-made, seasonal and locally sourced, and there's free wifi too.

The food served includes sharing plates, steak and chips, seasonal specials and a good old-fashioned burger.

There's also a dedicated pastry chef making a range of baked goods including mouthwatering muffins and crumbly croissants for breakfast, scrumptious sausage rolls and tasty tarts for lunch, and perfect pies and pastries later in the day.

Olympic Café & Dining Room | Restaurants in Barnes, London

A new café and restaurant serving a predominantly seasonal British menu with European influences, and open daily for breakfast, lunch and dinner.

It's part of the new Olympic Cinema complex, which has transformed the historic Olympic Studios in Barnes (legendary recording studios for the likes of the Rolling Stones and Jimi Hendrix) into a brand-new cinema and private members' club.

Previously a renowned recording studio for the who’s who of the 20th century music legends (think Rolling Stones, The Who, Prince, Nick Cave and Madonna), Olympic Studios in London has recently been transformed into an independent cinema, café, dining rooms, and a members club.

The design concept was created by Simone McEwan, previously Concept Designer at Selfridges and Design Director at Soho House, who embraced the legacy of the building and translated it into every facet of the Olympic experience.

The design treatment allows moments of drama, such as the dark and shadowy lobby which opens out into contrasting spaces to encourage a sense of wonder and anticipation, beit the light-filled café and dining rooms or the throbbing red heart of the cinema, mixed with domesticity; warm and inviting areas, comfortable seating and friendly welcome throughout.

From this ‘found space’, the design created beauty in its rawness, and instead of layering over it, respectfully added to it with a richness in materials, furniture and colours; plump and welcoming sofas, some vintage pieces for familiarity, sensual textiles and textures beit raw linen, felt or deep pile velvet.

The solid materials make sense of and give identity to each space to create a feeling of belonging.
