BISTROTEQUE, BETHNAL GREEN – A Spoonful Of Sugar

On Sunday my gorgeous friend Kirsty and I had a long overdue catch up brunch at Bistroteque and what a lovely day we had!

Kirsty was running a little late so the restaurant gave me a portion of quails eggs with celery salt to keep me going while I waited.

I ordered the sautéed new potatoes, chorizo, sage and fried egg (£7.50) I loved this.

Kirsty went for the duck hash, mushrooms and poached egg with a mustard sauce (£8.50) I only had a bite of this but it was delicious.

Not only does it have really relaxed atmosphere which is perfect if you’re suffering from the night before, but the food is fantastic, the staff are superb and even better, the prices are a lot more favourable than the centre of London.

Is London's trendy Bistrotheque coming to Manchester? - Confidentials

Confidential understands the East End institution has eyes on a spot in Piccadilly 'When the exterior is as irredeemably bleak as this, you just know it’s going to be painfully cool inside.'

This is what The Michelin Guide had to say about Bethnal Green restaurant, Bistroteque - the latest London establishment rumoured to be opening in Manchester later this year.

Opened in 2004 by founders Pablo Flack and David Waddington, Bistroteque has become something of an institution, particularly popular with fashion designers, artists and creatives.

The team behind the venue might be keeping reasonably tightlipped about a Manchester opening, but Confidential understands the trendy brand is about to set up in Capital & Centric's London Warehouse on Ducie Street - formerly known as The Place Apartments and now operated by aparthotel brand Go Native.

tmrw | Searching for Irish spirit in the heart of East London

Recently opened by Niall Davidson, NUALA is an all-day restaurant and Irish bar in the heart of East London.

By evening NUALA BAR beckons; an underground Irish bar with live music daily, too many whiskeys to mention, cocktails, pints and – of course – Tayto’s.

The ideal place to start or seal a night, NUALA Bar promises strong drinks, atmosphere and revelry paired with a dash of Irish music culture.

A whirlwind of music, craic and Irish devilment, the bar hosts live bands every night.

Squeeze into snugs for rounds of punch or pull up a stool at the large mahogany bar and sip on a favourite Irish whiskey from an extensive list.

Founder Bob Ritchie developed a passion for wine and decided to join forces with the wonderfully-named sommelier Dan Whine to make his dream of a wine-focused restaurant happen.

It’s sure to be a great addition to Dalston’s top bars and restaurants.

The first is a ‘focus list’ of around 36 regularly changing wines from producers the guys at Sapling think are particularly great.

The second option is to choose from the wider list of around 100 bottles, which you can also sample by the glass thanks to Coravin, a method which means wines can be poured by the glass without removing the cork from the bottle.

This means they’ve got a more interesting selection of wines to offer by the glass as they don’t need to worry about opening a bottle that might not be finished right away.

Anywhere with a Champagne coupe modelled on Kate Moss’s left breast and champagne slippers designed by Rupert Sanderson for the sole purpose of serving Perrier-Jouët Belle Epoque Rosé understands the decadence inherent in brunch, a meal that is the food equivalent of Keats’s ‘Ode on Indolence’.

Brunch served Sat-Sun 11.30am-5pm 34 Grosvenor Square (entrance on South Audley Street), London, W1K 2HD; 34-restaurant.

The hipster count is high, but the welcome and service are friendly, and there’s a level of professionalism here that’s missing from many East End restaurants.

Head to the first floor of this East End trendsetter for the light, white restaurant and big oval bar (the Manchichi, where walk-ins can eat and good cocktails are mixed).

Although the hipster count is high, the welcome and service are friendly, and there’s a level of professionalism here that’s missing from many local restaurants.

Less welcome at brunch are the 90-minute dining slots, and the tables set uncomfortably close to the piano.

Overall, it's a reliable but fun restaurant that hasn’t become complacent.
