The Sindercombe Social in London | Nearby hotels, shops and ...

Taking over the site of O'Neills on a prominent corner spot overlooking Shepherds Bush Green, The Sindercombe Social is a pub decked out like a US style bar with American style burgers from foodie pop-up masters Ruby Jean's, for the first three months at least.

The menu of mac 'n' cheese, fried chicken soaked in milk overnight and marinaded in spice, veggie shroomalloumi, and burgers in a number of different guises is the perfect soakage for pub staples like London Pale Ale and Camden Hells, available on tap.

Inside, decor wise, there are traditional bar stools and plenty of open space to stand, pint in hand and perhaps raise a glass to Miles Sindercombe.

Mr Sindercombe, after whom the pub is named, was a renegade Leveller and associate of Edward Sexby who made three attempts to assassinate Oliver Cromwell, one from right here in the pub's basement.

A charming bar, pop-up diner and live music venue all at once; The Sindercombe Social injects a real sense of vibrancy into Shepherd's Bush.

Kitted out with no shortage of exposed brickwork, walls adorned with vintage records and a striking bar area, the venue offers a handsome space in which to come in, relax and wile away the hours.

With it's events portfolio boasting everything from live music and DJs, to quizzes and one-off specials, plus bookable areas ranging from small, cozy booths too large sections with plenty of standing room, the Sindercombe is the perfect spot for nights out with colleagues, friends and family.

Drop them a message to reserve the ideal spot for you and your group to set up camp for the evening, so you have a base for the night, whilst still benefiting from the atmosphere and entertainment provided by a bustling pub.

Or, hire out the entire venue to make the most of having a WHOLE PUB all to yourselves for the night.

Top 10 things we learnt about the Sindercombe Social: 1) The Sindercombe Social is the latest addition to the roster of bars and eateries in Shepherds Bush, located in one of the lovably time-worn buildings directly next door to the Shepherds Bush Empire.

3) Already a firm local favourite if the crowds are anything to judge by, the Social ably pulls off the neat trick of combining the setting of a traditional English pub with a can-do, American diner vibe that plays well with the gig-going public.

4) Most impressively, the Social manages to temper its hangar-like and vaguely gloomy interior space with neon lights, vinyl records, white tiles and mirrors, creating an illusion of intimacy and vibrancy that belies the building’s air of faded glories.

Covering roughly half of the room, Ruby Jean’s Diner offers mouth-wateringly generous helpings of excellent roadhouse food including burgers (2-4-1 on Tuesdays), fried chicken, nachos and wings that wouldn't be out of place in a bona fide US diner.

8) Lunches and snacks are available too – I recommend the overwhelmingly tasty chilli fries – and the Diner tips its hat to the Social’s British roots on Sundays, promising “Roasts to Shame Your Mother” throughout the day.

Fusing together the facade of an old British pub (previously an O’Neills) with American diner quirks and adding in live music, The Sindercombe Social is a very welcome addition to Shepherds Bush (or, ahem, Shey Boo as its affectionate nickname),  an area of London receiving much press of late due to its movement towards regernation.

The word choice doesn’t seem to cover it at The Sindercombe Social.

All signs of the previous O’Neill’s have been stripped away and replaced with exposed bricks, battered wood clad walls, unique lamps and lights with soft filament bulbs, traditional bar stools and bright red leather booths.

It’s fair to say that The Sindercombe Social has injected itself with a very urban and industrial edge.

As a homage to everything American, retro record reels adorn the walls and neon signs set the place alight.
