A stone's throw from the hustle and bustle of the North Laines, The Eagle is one of Brighton's hidden treasures.

With a welcoming charm of your favourite village pub and a precious gem of a sun-trap outside to boot, The Eagle has become one of the North Laines favourite pubs.

Whether you fancy a nice pint, a glass or two from our eclectic wine list or a freshly ground coffee, The Eagle is the place to go...

food

The background, the food and drink, the people behind it, how to find it and how to cook the food yourself… and most important of all, how to get a table!

Mismatched tables and chairs, punters, young and old.

World music and jazz, good food, wine and beer… The Eagle Farringdon; it's what a pub should be.

The waiter in charge of the burger shack (curly hair, cap and beard) never smiled, had a big attitude, refused to do table service despite me having opened a tap (he and a waitress confirmed they could take order if we opened a tap), he also told us off for some of our children (3 and 5 years old) playing with a few pebbles (but not throwing or anything dangerous, just pushing and playing with them).

Several times, the waiter disappeared in one of the corners to take a break and he generally looked almost stone...He never smiled and forgot half of our bill.

We pointed out, being honest, that most of the food hadn't been charged to our bill, and after 10 mins of trying to sort it, he and another waitress came back with another bill (correct this time i.e. double the amount) but didn't offer to take anything back or give us drinks or coffees for free.

The table we sat at was dirty from previous customers and we had to ask the waiter to clean it, which took him 10mn to get around to do.

When we left around 4pm, we found the manager and one of the waitress were sat sharing a bottle of wine and smoking in the front terrace when the pub was still packed and needed staff to look after customers.
