Barbican Life : Barbican Estate Office

The Estates Office publishes a Barbican Residents Pack which is full of useful information for new and existing residents.

Place your rubbish bags out for collection every Monday to Friday in the morning before 8.15am or 8am for Lauderdale Tower, as there is only one rubbish collection per day.

Do not leave rubbish bags out in corridors at any other times, especially overnight or at weekends.

Do not make noise inside your flat and on balconies that could cause nuisance to your neighbours.

The Barbican Estate Office in no way wishes to stop the residents enjoying the private gardens and facilities with their friends but these gardens are not suitable for parties.

Another Neighbourhood 'Wine Bar and Kitchen' Is Opening in ...

London’s latest self-styled neighbourhood wine-bar-cum-kitchen, Good Neighbour is set to open next Tuesday, on the Camberwell Church Street location formerly home to Nape, the debut restaurant from charcuterie specialists Cannon Cannon.

Good Neighbour, then, comes by way of Australian chef Paul Williamson, who has spent his time in London first in the Soho House Group, and then at WC (Wine and Charcuterie) in Clapham.

According to Hot Dinners, his nobly modest ambition for Good Neighbour is to “provide locals with somewhere to share a good bottle of wine and some great food.”

To this end, the restaurant promises, on its website, a “bar and dining room with a decadent basement, serving divine wine and delish cheese, charcuterie, pizzetta and much more.”

At least one Twitter pundit was quick to call out the similarities in offering between Good Neighbour and their forbears, questioning the sense of a business proposition that delivers a product so similar to that of an unsuccessful predecessor, but while the restaurant game in London can be brutal, so too can real estate, and these are the sorts of chances young restaurateurs have to take if they want to put their own name on the door.

Good Neighbour wine bar and dining room takes over from Nape in ...

In a nutshell: Neighbourhood wine bar and restaurant in Camberwell Summing it all up: Expect a strong charcuterie and cheese offering in this new Camberwell wine bar and dining room with plenty of plates for sharing and pizzette as well.

If you've been wondering what's taking over from the late lamented Nape in Camberwell then let us enlighten you - it's going to be a wine bar and dining room called Good Neighbour.

This is his first solo venture and he told Hot Dinners he's looking to provide locals with somewhere to share a good bottle of wine and some great food.

To that end, he's made some changes to the layout of the space, converting the cellar into a private dining room and further dining area so there'll be room for almost twice as many customers as before.

The core of the menu will focus on cheese, charcuterie and pizzettes like chorizo picante with burrata, roast red pepper and Parmesan (£7) or Wild mushroom, truffle, green olive, rocket and Ossau Iraty (£6.50).

As the name suggests, it’s a cosy neighbourhood bar and there’s a large menu of cheese, charcuterie and snacks to graze on.

There’s a cheese and charcuterie counter, with a large selection including sheep, cow and goats’ cheeses.

This is a wine bar so that’s predominantly what they offer from a small, well-priced selection; we also like the way they’ve chosen ‘five at £25’, which is a selection of five of their favourite bottles.

Cheese and charcuterie plates are £12–21; snacks are £4.50–8; pizzette are £5.50–7; plates are £7.50–9.50.

Camberwell has been desperate for a new wine bar since Nape closed and we’re certain Good Neighbour will become a good friend.

facilities

Craftsman José Raido is behind this attractive and original family-run hotel, near Camberwell Green.

Funky bathroom tiles in the bright, high-ceilinged bedrooms, for example, come from Guadalajara, and are thus a perfect match for Mexicana such as imported film posters, while the bed frames were forged by José himself.

Bathroom products are organic, as are the pastries and cereals served for breakfast in an icon-filled dining room that also operates as a 24hr honesty bar.

You pay only £90 for a double with shared bathroom, which is a real bargain, and the hotel tapas restaurant, Angels & Gypsies, has been a big hit locally since opening in 2009.
