Highbury is getting another new restaurant, Laura Christie (one half of Oklava) and Chris Boustead, one half of the Boustead & Bidois pop-up (and before that Opera Tavern, Ten Bells and James Cochran), are opening Linden Stores – a family run wine store and basement restaurant on the original site of Prawn on the Lawn.

The neighbourhood joint will stock a well-priced wine selection with bottles for everything, from a rainy Monday night to big celebration, and all will be available to drink in or takeaway.

When it comes to the food, you can expect a regularly changing menu with dishes including smoked beef stew with thyme dumplings, potted rabbit with clementine jelly and the classic British cheese board.

And to celebrate their opening, Linden Stores are offering 50% OFF food and 25% OFF wine from the 29th November – 2nd December.

In a nutshell: Wine shop and restaurant in Highbury.

Summing it all up: Taking over the spot vacated by Prawn on the Lawn, this is a new wine shop and restaurant in Islington - run by half of both Oklava and Boustead & Bidois.

Have you been wondering what the plan was with the old Prawn on the Lawn spot when they moved up the road in Islington?

Arriving in that is Linden Stores wine shop and restaurant.

As far as the shop side goes, they say to expect "a selection of wines designed to have bottles for a rainy Monday as well as something special for a big celebration with friendly, knowledgeable staff  on hand and the opportunity to try before you buy."

The Alwyne Castle across the road is not a bad pub at all (particularly in the summer when the outside tables are more enticing) and you could also head to Prawn on the Lawn for a drink and a nibble before or after Linden Stores.

Upstairs also doubles as a small wine bar, where you can grab some of the snacks that are available downstairs.

Obviously, the wine list is something to tackle?

The list really shows how interesting their selections are - so if you live in the immediate area, it's a much-needed new wine source close to Highbury Corner.

The wine list is interesting and well priced, the small plates are inventive (and, of course, THOSE POTATOES) and all in all the downstairs room is highly convivial.
