Reyhana: a low-key triumph on Malden Road | Kentishtowner

Review analysis
food   value

Despite the opening last year of aspirational food pub the Gipsy Queen, Malden Road is still not exactly a restaurant hotspot.

Simple room, high-backed chairs. The quality of cooking is truly impressive: flat bread is warm, crisp and light, with an accompanying hummus less memorable than a delicious mirza ghasemi, all smoky aubergine, tomatoes and garlic.

But it’s the mains that are hard to beat: Khoresht e-gheimeh badenjan, a lamb stew with split yellow peas and dried limes, is cooked in a tomato sauce, and topped with sauteed aubergine: fragrant, zesty and meaty, a real winter comfort classic.

A skewer of chicken fillet marinated in yoghurt and saffron for 24 hours, as meltingly tender as any you’ll find in the postcode – and more so than the breast at shiny chain Bird on Chalk Farm Road just five minutes’ stroll away.

To experience the rich flavours of the Middle East in Marylebone, Galleria Restaurant is the place to go.

Located on New Cavendish Street, Galleria Restaurant has established itself as one of the best Persian restaurants in London, serving up everything from juicy charcoal-grilled meats to hearty Middle Eastern stews.

We recommend starting off with some small mezze plates like the falafel, fried goats cheese and hummus with pitta, before trying some of Galleria Restaurant’s famous ghalieh mahi (tilapia in a stew of mixed herbs, tamarind and chilli, served with rice).

Drawing in foodies from all over the city with its authentic cuisine and warm and inviting setting, Galleria Restaurant can get busy, so book book a table in advance to avoid missing out!

Masgouf Restaurant - Knightsbridge, London, Knightsbridge. Book ...

food   menu

While we’ve mostly all had Middle Eastern food in London, the standard can often be variable.

If you’re looking for the very best in Middle Eastern food in London, then you need to take a trip to Knightsbridge and Masgouf Restaurant.

Their location on William Street, right off Knightsbridge proper, is more than a little exclusive, and their food too is suitably upmarket: let us talk you through a few of their most popular options.

While Masgouf is a Middle Eastern restaurant, their speciality is the cuisine of Iraq.

Pay them a visit at their location on William Street – take the Piccadilly line to Knightsbridge – for some Iraqi food in London that is well worth remembering.

food

For those looking for authentic Persian cuisine in London’s Kentish town, Reyhana Restaurant is the ideal place to go.

Serving up a blend of old and new Persian dishes, this Malden Road eatery can cater to those looking for an entry-level course in Iranian food and Persian kitchen fans alike.

There’s little from Reyhana Restaurant on Malden Road in London’s NW5 to hint at the quality of the food coming from the kitchen inside.

A very ordinary shop front belies the legion of fans which stream in and out of the restaurant every day.

Persian food fans should consider making a reservation if they plan to head down to Reyhana at the weekend, as the place is regularly full, it’s easy and quick to book with Quandoo online or on the go with the iOS and Android capable app.
