However, after discovering that Farringdon wasn’t just the corporate jungle I thought it was and that I was actually just a few minutes walk from the food lovers heaven and global culinary melting pot that is Leather Lane Market, my new location began to grow on me with every new dish I tried.

Now that I have given myself enough time to sample almost every stall on Leather Lane I have put together a list of my 5 favourite dishes which are all well worth a try!

As well as their permanent address on Old Street, Yum Bowl is one of the first food stalls you will come across when entering Leather Lane from Clerkenwell Road.

Jerkkies serves high-quality Caribbean cuisine in their Hatton Garden restaurant, as well as from their street food stall which can be found in Leather Lane on weekday lunchtimes.

You can grab their Samba Chicken Box, which comes with chilli and garlic chicken skewers, rice, black beans, coleslaw and salad, plus a side of sweet potato fries and a drink for only £6.50.

There’s some great healthy and vegan choices, like their own Bircher muesli, mixed melon-fruit salad, or smashed avocado, chili flakes and sumac on Danish rye.

This new café and bar has practically become Culture Trip’s editorial meeting room, and you can often find us on the big table downstairs having our meetings fueled by some great coffee.

Hidden down a little alleyway, this café and restaurant offers great home-cooked Irish food, which means three things: fresh-baked soda bread, a big pot of tea and a cake on the table.

There’s a great range of sandwiches – try the club: a triple-decker sandwich with free-range roast chicken, bacon, avocado, tomato, baby leaves and mayo.

Founded by four Italian friends who used to work in the area, Jane Roe delivers great value for money by having a short, tight menu of crowd-pleasing pizzas and burgers.

Historically Leather Lane was a bric-a-brac market, but over the last five years a flurry of street food and restaurants have made it a haven for food lovers .

You can still get flowers, fruit and veg, but now they're nestled between an everchanging roster of street food (including Grill My Cheese).

Daddy Donkey, famed for their burritos, made their name on a Leather Lane stall, and have since moved into a permanent site in the middle of the market.
