Poppy heads straight for the kids toys on the new play area so I can drink my coffee peacefully – this is wonderful!

Beth bounces in through the door – as a Mum and entrepreneur she knows only too well the joy of somewhere to feed your kids where they are entertained and safe.

“The kids play area is open 2- 5pm” she beams, “It is new and proving to be a real hit with local mums”.

During this time there are a few special offers: Kiddie pizza and a glass of wine for Mummy (or Daddy) £8.50 or Coffee £6.50 The menu is well tailored to suit all the family with house made pizzas, pasta, salads, dough balls and favourites such as ragout.

Sweet Thursday also offers kids pizza parties.

Stephen Perse Foundation - Where are they now?

From a biochemist to chocolatier, Bethany has proved that whatever start you have, you can never be sure where it might lead!

Bethany initially studied Biochemistry at the University of St Andrews before retraining and taking an entirely different direction as a chocolatier.

"My job has totally changed, but the values I had instilled in me at school have really stayed with me".

While I have often joked that the Stephen Perse Foundation doesn’t generally encourage students to embark on non-academic careers such as being a chef, it is certainly true that my Stephen Perse education prepared me in a way I could never have expected.

I am fiercely proud of my time at the Stephen Perse Foundation and frequently stand up to people who are against private education, because it instilled in me a very strong sense of discipline, together with the belief that, with sufficient perseverance and dedication, I could achieve anything I set my sights on.

The Best Gluten Free Pizzas In London | Londonist

Of course, what pizzerias mean by 'gluten free' varies, with some places using gluten free flour but the same oven as their standard pizzas — so they're not suitable for coeliacs.

Gluten free diets are catered for with actual pizzas, bases supplied by GF merchants the Lab Pizza – or with the same toppings but baked in the oven on a bed of cannellini beans.

Pizza's not the only string to their gluten free bow at this friendly, cosy trattoria; they also do GF pasta.

But Crate also make a great pizza, with gluten free on offer and toppings ranging from the welcome and familiar to the seriously non-conformist — like the Kashmiri dhal, featuring mozzarella, spinach, dal, cumin, mango chutney, slices of banana and Greek yoghurt.

Honorable mentions: Stingray Globe Café in Shoreditch (where they use the same oven for gluten free and standard pizzas), and Stingray in Tufnell Park, this one with separate ovens.

food

Hopefully, this new De Beauvoir pizzeria, sandwiched between a caff and a betting shop, didn’t choose its name as a comment on the neighbours.

With a wine shop at the front and a pizzeria at the back, a lot of thought has gone into the retro-meets-modern design of the place.

The diner-style red and yellow tables are topped with tomato tins containing cutlery, and cola bottles full of chilli oil, while staff mill around in ‘pizza’ and ‘wine’ emblazoned T-shirts.

Shaped, topped and baked in the open kitchen at the back of the restaurant, the puffy-crusted and thin-based pizzas range from classic marinara and margherita to the less expected cauliflower, gorgonzola and walnut.

The chef here gets top marks for innovation – and not the wrong kind, his combos are well thought out – but a few tweaks would move the food at this attractive pizzeria from merely satisfactory to very appealing.
