The Plume of Feathers, Greenwich London

Established in 1691, the Plume of Feathers is the oldest pub in Greenwich.

It overlooks Greenwich Park, close to the Observatory and Maritime Museum and in 2013 was voted the best pub in SE10 by the Greenwich Society.

This warm and friendly pub, adorned with original claygate fireplace and features, enhanced by maritime relics and historical paintings, provides a feeling of being in a country pub while being in one of the world busiest and greatest cities.

Sunday afternoons see the best traditional Sunday Roasts served with fresh seasonal produce.

The Plume is listed in CAMRA’s good beer guide for the UK and we serve 4 real ales including Harvey’s Sussex Best Bitter, Sharp’s Doombar and two excellent guest beers.

Plume of Feathers in Greenwich, London Pub Review and Details

Review analysis
staff

The (previously nice) French manageress had a go at me because my friend did not want to wake up her two-year-old and take him out of the pram.

She went and checked with a member of staff and he said it was fine, but once we had got the pushchair as far as the restaurent area, the manageress made a bee-line for us and started having a go.

The staff member tried to intervene to let her know that he had already agreed to it, but she ignored him.

Then only trouble is, she is the manageress so I have no-one to complain to.

Thinking about it, I have seen her having a go openly at members of staff.

This pub has been voted by our readers as one of the best in Greenwich.

Perhaps the most atmospheric, evocative pub in the area, the Plume of Feathers has managed to keep its charms quiet.

Yet step inside and you'll find yourself in one of the most relaxing bars around.

It's a proper locals place with its own football team and golf society, but all-comers will get a warm welcome.

A separate dining room serves inexpensive pub classics and Sunday roasts beside a proper fire.

Coming in from either Welwyn or Hertford on the B1000, look for the small village sign of Tewin (opposite the golf course).

Drive through the village and we are on the right opposite the cricket club.
