Guide to East Finchley: Part 2 - SAVLA FAIRE

The best restaurants in East Finchley, for my money, are as follows: If you like your pizza fluffy, flavourful and fad-free, then look no further than Bufi.

This intimate venue, seating no more than 30 people, is a riot to start to end: orders being shouted over the counter in rapid-fire Italian; diners’ voices getting louder as the wine flows; pizzas flying out of the oven to land on tables or in takeaway boxes; and waitresses weaving between the tightly packed tables carrying several plates.

East Finchley is home to quite a few bars, but the below are my best ones by a mile: Located at the top of the slope at the crossroads of East End Road and the High Road, this recently renovated gastropub is divided into 3 sections: pub, restaurant and terrace.

Have I inspired you to visit any of my favourite traders, cafes, restaurants, pubs or cultural haunts in East Finchley?

East Finchley cafes include Boyden's Kitchen, and in Barnet The Old Courthouse Park has its own cafe.

You could visit a soft play centre: there's Go Kids N20 on the High Road, Clown Town in Friern Barnet and Topsy Turvy World at Brent Cross Shopping Centre.

In addition to the Brent Cross Shopping Centre there's also The Spires Shopping Centre - but there are also lots of lovely independent retailers in Barnet such as Patisserie Joie de Vie and the traditional sweet shop Hopscotch.

You've still got all the fabulous parks and playgrounds in Barnet to explore; Oakhill Park on Barnet's Church Hill Road and Friary Park on Friern Barnet Lane both have great play areas, cafes and more.

The pasta at the small family restaurant La Rugoletta on Church Lane in East Finchley is lovely, and as it's tucked off the High Street you can escape the hustle and bustle while you enjoy a delicious bolognese or carbonara.

food

By M M. Posted on 27/08/2012 To start with my napkin had greasy marks, although this was replaced very quickly.

I ordered wild grilled mushrooms for a starter and my partner ordered a bean salad and garlic bread.

The wild mushrooms turned out to be ordinary oyster mushrooms which had been fried.

Bean salad was quite tasty but garlic bread arrived when were were finishing our starters (after asking the waiter twice).

Both mains came with quite tasty but very greasy sauteed potatoes and french beans.
