Review: Hummus Bros, giving chick peas a real chance | London ...

So they wandered into a ‘specialist’ food shop, picked up hummus, olive oil and pitta bread.

Crispy on the outside, very nice, it tastes exactly like how good pitta bread should do.

Ok so a dollop of hummus with the excellent stew on a piece of warm pitta bread… the bros are right, I could eat this all day, everyday.

As I sip the warm mint tea on a beautiful summer’s day (in September…) I wonder why it took me this long to find this place.

This is easily one of the best places for a quick lunch after shopping in regents street or before taking in a show at the west end, or for just a really good meal.

Although Hummus Bros spell the word thus, I shall continue to write 'houmous', despite autocorrect's protestations, as that is what I have always done and what seems to be on most shop tubs.

The story of Hummus Bros' incarnation is a lovely one: "Hummus Bros was born on a glorious hot day in May 2003, when, as two college friends, we were searching for something filling and healthy that would taste great, and still leave some change for drinks at the Union Bar.

Last Sunday I ventured into central LDN to meet my lovely friends, Rachel and Holly, at Hummus Bros' Soho spot.

Naturally, I had stalked the menu online on more than one occasion (no shame to admit it) and so knew what I was having: a houmous bowl with falafel salad and warm pitta bread.

What is the houmous bowl and pitta etiquette?

At first, we thought about naming our hummus types by colour, but feedback showed us that customers weren’t all that excited about placing an order of “brown hummus” with pitta.

Outside of reporting, customer feedback is another great way to get feedback on your menu.

Today, Hummus Bros still speaks to customers directly, but we also rely heavily on review sites for insights.

By lifting the curtains and giving customers the opportunity to see what’s going on, they’re able to form more of a connection with Hummus Bros, and start to understand the inner workings of the company.

From reporting to customer feedback, there are a number of tools that you can use to guide your business decisions.

Seriously good houmous – and a lot more besides – at London’s prime practitioner of chickpea worship.

Houmous may be nothing more than cheap student-fuel to many, but this humble chickpea paste is elevated to something altogether more delicious in the hands of Hummus Bros.

The original Wardour Street outlet is still spartanly decorated, despite a ten-year refit, with communal tables and big windows – with queues of office workers snaking into the street at lunchtime: scenes replicated at the Holborn and Cheapside branches.

Though the wraps aren’t bad, go for the bowls of silky-smooth houmous sprinkled with paprika and olive oil, and make use of the garlic-infused lemon juice on every table.

Service is quick and casual, but the Middle Eastern flavours and big portions make this a top budget lunch spot.
