Beyond Bread is a 100% gluten free bakery that burst onto the London gluten free scene to a lot of fanfare in early 2015.

You could have had ‘morning after scrambled eggs’ on a soft bun, but there were several options for sandwiches such as: I thought the bread was absolutely delicious, but my gluten eating husband has never been a fan of gluten free bread and still thought that the bread tasted gluten free (but good for gluten free!)

For lunch you have the luxury of gluten free baguettes (ranging from £5-6), but there are also a large variety of salads, quiche and interesting options such as a vegetarian sweet potato burger.

I have seen other people comment that the bread is so good even gluten eaters would not know the difference, but I could still tell the baguette was gluten free (but not the toasted sandwich).

Beyond Bread is also featured on my 100% gluten free London post.

I was casually scrolling down my Instagram feed a few days ago when I stumbled on a post by Beyond Bread celebrating their Islington branch’s first month since opening.

With Artisan Gluten Free Bakery further down the street, Niche near Angel tube station, the recently made completely gluten free vietnamese restaurant Pho and a huge selection of gluten free friendly restaurants (including the fantastic Tierra Peru and Bird), Beyond Bread opening a new branch here is just the icing on the cake.

This time we shared the waffle as well as the grilled halloumi and poached eggs on sourdough toasts (with a homemade harissa spiced hummus, rocket, pomegranate seeds and fresh coriander).

The new islington branch is also much bigger than the one in Goodge street, it has a very nice sophisticated decor and a lovely little garden area where I look forward to enjoying many more brunches on beautiful summer days.

Beyond Bread Islington Branch now has a dinner menu on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays!

However, after a busy morning promoting Coeliac Awareness Week, myself & Founder of Genius Gluten Free Foods, Lucinda Bruce-Gardyne decided to pay Beyond Bread a visit.

A city where there is plenty of great gluten free options, yet suddenly, this place instantly rocketed to the top of my list.

a place where usually the only thing I can eat is a gluten free chocolate brownie.

Last time I was in New York I didn’t get to experience any of their cheesecakes, we never found a gluten free place in our time there.

After an extremely tiring day in London, I decided to cook up some gluten free chicken nuggets & put them inside half of the baguette with plenty of ketchup.

Just as a good pizza should be…crispy edges, light base and loaded with mouthwatering fresh ingredients.

She is passionate about good healthy food and is not prepared to compromise her standards of the highest quality ingredients and creations.

I shared my concern that a lot of shop gluten free products have so many ingredients in them and include lots of chemicals and preservatives.

A supermarket gluten free cake was shown to their chefs and asked how many ingredients they thought it contained.

This new dining venture truly goes ‘Beyond Bread’ delivering a dazzling array of sweets and savouries that will impress discerning foodies whether gluten free of not.

It's all about gluten-free bits and bobs at this bakery and café on Charlotte Place.

The in-house bakery knocks out bread that doesn't rely on flour, with loaves of sourdough, pumpernickel, seeded loaf, brioche, ciabatta and baguettes lined up and looking appetising.

Partial to a pun, options here range from a 'pig out' (pulled pork, lettuce and red cabbage slaw on a soft bun) and an 'off the hook' (tuna melt) to a 'miso horny' (free range eggs, white miso glaze and baby spinach in a baguette).

A prosciutto, minted goat's cheese, fresh rocket and tomato chilli jam baguette is called 'for goat's sake'.

Expect, too, options such as oat, walnut and raisin muffins, strawberry and custard Danishes and banana bread alongside red velvet cupcakes, strawberry jam cookies and a victoria sponge served with fresh strawberries.
