ClubFabulous - The Horatia

Horatia (ex-The Ashburton, ex-The Lord Nelson) in Holloway ...

A distinctive presence on the Holloway Road, the Lord Nelson was a key spot for many a touring Irish band.

So, still a party pub but one chasing a very different demographic.

Early days yet, but signs are that this one - from the same stable as the Horse and Groom in Shoreditch - is already on the radar of the Bright Young Things, and we fully expect the sizeable dancefloor to fill on the numerous club nights (especially given the massive speakers).

As you'd imagine, it's a slightly different beast during the day and even with a free jukebox and massive leather sofas to sprawl in, it's a rather bare affair.

Still, come the night time (and the night life) not too many will be complaining over the dcor.

You never feel crammed in The Horatia; the pub takes a spacious approach to its layout and is all the better for it.

As we learned on a Sunday evening watching a rerun of an old cricket game, there's always a match to be found.

There's also a nice selection of old stuff for those into their nostalgia.

There once were more recent old things here, a few video game arcades, but alas they are now gone.

A quick word to the wise — as with all pubs in this area, expect it to be rammed on Arsenal match days.

hotdogs have been serving for much of 2016) and they can handle the football fans from the nearby Emirates Stadium but don't alienate those who couldn't even tell you which team plays there the rest of the time.

At the weekends a 2am licence makes it a good local to settle in, with DJs helping to keep the night lively.

On Monday nights the back room hosts a swing dancing class, and the rest of the time you can claim a sofa by the projector or table by the huge windows and settle in for a session.
