food

Pivaz falls in to the latter of those categories.

It’s been an established spot on Chatsworth Road for yonks (plus has other locations I understand) but it was only at the end of the summer that Ed and I discovered it (despite it being a mere 15 minute walk from our house at the time…don’t judge us).

I know summer’s kind of over now but if we have any more balmy Indian Summer evenings, be sure to hot foot it down to Pivaz pronto, as it’s the perfect place for an al fresco dinner, noseying on the locals of E5, whilst eating the flavours of Istanbul and beyond.

Pivaz is a Turkish restaurant, one that feels slightly more refined and considered than a lot of the others around East London.

In that, I guess I mean you don’t get 3 bowls of salad and a giant bowl of pide with your main, but you do get a generous portion with wonderful flavours.

Review: Pivaz Epping | Food & Drink | West Essex Life

And whilst the Epping installment doesn’t offer breakfast, the sumptuous grilled lamb is very much on the menu.

In spite of its true origins in the kitchens of Turkey, the Epping branch of Pivaz has expanded its menu to include a comprehensive collection of European landmark dishes.

The most impressive thing is that diners at Pivaz can easily switch between Turkish and more Western starters and mains without the undesirable mixing of palettes, and sharing food works well across the dark wood tables.

But if you’re still hungry, pairing a glass of floral moscato with a decadent orange crème brûlée or homely sticky toffee pudding will fill any lingering gaps.

With a unique menu that undoubtedly covers all bases for more particular diners, and an atmosphere that is retained even on a busy Saturday night, Pivaz Epping is an absolute must.

One tip: try not to fill up on the moreish Turkish bread that just keeps on coming.

the food is always good and there are always plenty of options on the menu that i would and could choose.

Lovely little restaurant - the food was delicious and service was great.

Slightly more expensive than other Turkish restaurants in Hackney but the cosy atmosphere and good food is worth it Staff were friendly, food was nice and a reasonable amount served.

Had booked a table for 12 and we were in a strange L shape where some guests had their backs to each other Great food and wine, nice atmosphere too!

Food was okay (not amazing and portions on the small side), atmosphere nice but the service was just painfully slow, not attentive at all, and not very friendly.

The menu at this Turkish restaurant in Clapton certainly offers plenty of choice - it spans breakfast, lunch and dinner, with more than your average number of dishes in each category.

The breakfast offering combines Turkish, Mediterranean and European elements, and there are wraps as well as egg dishes.

The Turkish menus at lunch and dinner include many of the country’s classic dishes, with a long list of meze (starters) both cold and hot, a number of main courses (including fish and steaks) cooked on the grill, a few casseroles, and a few vegetarian dishes.
