The Kenton is a handsome Victorian pub not far from Well Street market, just north of Victoria Park.
It's one of those pubs that we meant to visit many, many times, but somehow never got round to it.
The revamped Kenton may have had a typical noughties pub refurb - dark paint inside and out, mix-and-match furniture, subdued lighting, candles on the tables etc., but it works very nicely here.
The service is friendly and the music on the PA wide-ranging and eclectic (it suits the relaxed atmosphere of the pub).
It still seems a little quiet here (although it picks up towards the weekend), but we feel the formula here suits the area well and, with a bit of luck and more custom, the Kenton could be a real winner.

The Kenton advertises itself as 'your friendly Hackney pub' and it certainly delivers in its mission statement.
Dog friendly and child friendly (before 7pm) this locals pub is run by a group of equally friendly Norwegians and has to be one of the more welcoming pubs in London.
Take a visit here and you can expect to see a trendy Hackney crowd coming for a chilled after work drink at the bar or snuggling in blankets out in the beer garden.
You could easily grab one of their Pieminister pies here and make an evening of it or just go for a drink before moving on to hit one of the nearby clubs in Hackney.
