Gallipoli Again - review: Turkish and Lebanese restaurant in north ...

This Upper Street institution is so popular that three branches of Gallipoli have opened within yards of one another on Islington’s premier gastrotastic strip.

Gallipoli Bistro, Bazaar and Again all put their own twist on the Arabian theme and provide plenty of alternatives should the wait for a table at any of the sisters’ restaurants be unpalatably long.

The scene Gallipoli Again is the northernmost of the restaurants and perhaps the biggest.

Greeted by a profusion of ornate brass light fittings dangling around the bar, and the happy din of chattering diners, it’s apparent that this isn’t a starched table cloths joint.

The grub The expanse of starters might be a tad daunting for someone unfamiliar with Turkish and Lebanese cuisine, but the alarmingly friendly staff are more than happy to guide you to something fitting.

That’s not to say that you won’t find the odd bit of cod thrown in and the takeaway menu (a good shout for fancy fish and chips) isn’t quite as out there.

The small menu changes according to what’s available on the day, on tap are a good run of independent, often organic beers and in the cellar all the wines are either organic or biodynamic.

As you might guess from the name, The Pig & Butcher is quite a carnivorous place but the menu does have a good choice of vegetarian plates too.

Just across from The Elk in the Woods (and equally impossible to find a spot in come the weekend), the second opening of The Breakfast Club team is a worthy spot for brunch.

They just dusted down the 1940s sign they found on the premises and got on with serving similarly no-fuss food: good toast, good muesli and good breakfast sandwiches.

This small grotto of a restaurant is decked out with Turkish knick knacks and offers a satisfyingly authentic time.

The restaurant looks great and the staff were amazing, out standing, the 3 course meal was delicious.

Took 30mins to find out it had gone to one of the other Gallipoli's restaurants.

Food was great and quick to arrive.

“I agree with the review, went there for the first time the other day - the food was amazing and the red wine kept flowing.”
