House of Morocco - Homeware Boutique & Coffee Shop

The vivid landscape of Morocco is filled with colourful materials and exceptional craftsmanship.

House of Morocco celebrates the bustling streets of the bazaar, the spice aromas, exotic textiles and beautifully crafted items.

Our friends ‘the makers’ shared with us their creativity and ancestral techniques passed onto them, in collaboration with this young generation of artisans we are mixing the old with the new to offer contemporary warm pieces for your home.

We are based in London with great friends in Morocco who are always there for HoM and you.

In the premises once occupied by Pattern Coffee, House of Morocco has been open for six weeks, offering excellent espresso-based coffee from Terrone & Co, Moroccan-themed lunches and a wide range of Moroccan merchandise, including pottery and textiles.

House of Morocco started life as a homeware store before taking over what was Patten Coffee, although it would be wrong to cast it as Pattern’s successor.

Providing an interesting fusion of western, third-wave coffee shop and Moroccan culture, it’s a relaxing, friendly spot which can get busy, particularly during the lunchtime when I met up with fellow blogger, Bex of Double Skinny Macchiato.

This has a padded bench under the window, extending along both walls to form a U-shape, centred on a low coffee table.

Bex, meanwhile, had a ham toasty… When it comes to coffee, House of Morocco has turned its back on any Moroccan influence (although if I remember correctly, Moroccan coffee culture is largely adopted from the French, although I could be wrong) and gone Italian/third-wave with an espresso-based menu supplied by old friends Terrone & Co.

Update (November 2017): Pattern Coffee has now closed with HoM Coffee by House of Morocco, serving Terrone Coffee, in its place.

Since the closure of the short-lived Brewhouse on York, I've been hoping that King's Cross would once again support a friendly independent café serving great coffee.

Enter Pattern Coffee House, which opened a few months ago a few blocks north of Drink, Shop Dash on Caledonian Road.

I really enjoyed my visit to Pattern and highly recommend it to anyone looking for a great coffee with a chilled-out vibe in the King's Cross area.

The Spanish capital is welcoming, friendly, fun and home to Spain's most exciting coffee scene There are few cities that are more iconic than London.

This small guide to some of London’s finest coffee is purely based on our own recommendations and places we have personally visited over the past few years.

Of course, if you’re in the coffee world, you’ll know that London has one of the highest per km² concentrations of coffee bars and coffee shops anywhere on the planet, and plenty of guides and books have been written to list its myriad of amazing specialty coffee shops.

For anyone visiting the London Coffee Festival this weekend but wanting a wee bit of respite from all the craziness inside the Old Truman Brewery, you should visit the year old Nude Coffee Roastery on Hanbury St. It is actually right opposite Nude’s flagship café but feels a lot more industrial with its massive 35kg Loring roaster and bean bar.

This London branch of one of New Zealand’s most renowned coffee roasters is a wonderful neighbourhood café that, until last year, also hosted the entire UK roasting operation of Allpress UK.

THE FOOD: Gadz serves reviving drinks (coffee/tea) and great food – falafel and a huge, colourful dish of Lebanese salad with tabbouleh, rice, hummus and more decorated with some jewel bright pomegranate seeds.

There are loads of stalls selling delicious street food, and of course pizza.

RESTAURANT REVIEWS 2015-16 Below you will find reviews by Nicola Baird *Jamie’s Italian Angel, *Brewhouse & Kitchen Highbury, 2015 *ASK Italian, *Zia Lucia, 2016 *Highbury Arts Club (reviewed by Isabel VanderGert – Wilson) 2015 ASK ITALIAN – pop up breakfast Website: Address: 52 Upper Street, N1 Open: for breakfast July-September 2016 from 8am-12 noon.

Breakfast with an Italian twist – eg, blueberry jam, nutella and banana pancakes and smoked prosciutto – is a lovely way to feel that you are on holiday in laid back Italy, especially with the temperature at 28 degrees in Upper Street.

Because ASK is just off traffic-choked Upper Street and has a generous-sized terrace overlooking flowerbeds, and our table was under a huge sun/rain shade the four of us spent two hours dawdling over a tasty breakfast.
