Pizza Union King's Cross Review | Big City, Little Nurse

Cheap and delicious pizza, served super-fast.

All this Pizza Hut and Domnino’s stuff is a really poor imitation of a great Italian classic.

Pizza Union, which is just opposite King’s Cross on Pentonville Road, works quite simply; go up to the bar, choose your pizza, choose any dips, drinks and sides, and pay.

David’s workmates all order from Pizza Union on a weekly basis because it’s so quick, and very tasty.

David went for something with a bit more meat, the Carne (£6.50), and after a short wait, beep beep buzz the buzzer went, and they were ready for pick up.

… with good friends, pizza and cocktails at Pizza Union!

But more than anything else, I LOOOOOOOOOOVE the Funghi pizza with extra N’Duja on top!

Pizza Union’s new Dalston venue scores just as high as its sibblings on all the above points.

With a few extra ones for the super welcoming team that’s always full of brilliant advice on what toppings to add to your pizza to make it even more delicious.

On its own the Margherita runs an extremely affordable £3.95.

There’s a range of other pizzas too though, all of which are made using fior di late mozzarella and San Marzano tomato sauce and freshly-made, hand-stretched dough.Kemey went with the Fiorentina (tomato sauce, mozzarella, Parmesan, egg, black olives, and fresh spinach, £5.50) and enjoyed it.

If I lived or worked a little closer, I’d be at Pizza Union all the time.

As it stands, I’m bouncing in and out of the area on a fairly regular basis – and will definitely keep it in mind.

An extremely easy eatery to recommend, Pizza Union is located at 25 Sandy’s Row, E1 7EZ.

Proving that you don't always need to take out a loan to eat out in London, Pizza Union have brought their cheap and cheerful menu to Dalston.

The Roman-inspired pizza chain already has venues in King's Cross, Spitalfields and Aldgate and has chosen to stick with East London for their fourth site.

Opened on the Kingsland Road Highstreet, the menu is as affordable as ever, with no pizza topping £6.50.

Pizza Union Dalston has opened and there is one thing we can be sure of: the pizza is going to be as popular as ever.

The chain brings Roman pizza to London, without the huge price tag; dishes include the likes of Regina (mozzarella, ham, mushrooms and black olives) and Carne (mozzarella, chicken, beef, onions and peppers) all for £6.50 or under.

All the talk of budget-friendly prices, a vibrant atmosphere and pizza good enough to make your Italian grandmother weak at the knees meant that this was one carb-loaded evening I could not miss.

Neighbouring restaurants looked to be heading for an early close on a quiet and cold Wednesday, but things at Pizza Union were already moving through the gears.

If the atmosphere was slick and modern, the food took a complete u-turn and went for traditional, Romana styled pizzas.

Six of the sixteen pizzas come meat-free and there are also cheese-free options revealing Pizza Union’s finger to be firmly on the veganism pulse.

Prices that are easy on the purse strings stop Pizza Union from becoming another slice of soulless gentrification.

Billing itself as a ‘superveloce Italiana’, this industrial-looking canteen really does serve pizza pronto.

Baked in the large igloo-like oven, the pizza bases we tried were uniformly thin and light with a crisp crust.

The creamy mascarpone on a Toscana was a great foil to spicy Calabrian 'nduja sausage spread and peppery rocket.

Desserts are limited to serve-yourself tubs of ice cream supplied by London gelateria Gelupo, and folded pizza alla cioccolata, stuffed with nutella and mascarpone.

But if you’re simply looking for good fast food, the pizza makes it a must if you’re nearby.
