Dhaba@49 serves up North Indian in Maida Vale - Feed the Lion

Review analysis
menu   food   drinks

The uniquely named Dhaba@49 is situated on the corner of Elgin Avenue and Chippenham Road where “the menu is Halal, with no pork or alcohol used in food preparation”.

Although alcohol is made available, co-owners Ashish Chawla, Naveen Dogra and Sandeep Singh have ensured an extensive soft drinks and mocktail menu.

The menu is varied with an assortment of vegetarian, non-vegetarian and vegan dishes, with a very interesting selection from what’s called the Chaat Corner that include: The Vegetarian Starter has a street food plate from North India known as Ragra Tikki that comprises potato cutlets served with dried peas mash and chutneys, and the Pav Bhaji – a Mumbai speciality vegetables served with butter buns.

While the Non-Vegetarian Starter has Amritsari Machi which is battered fish in indian spices, it also presents a Tandoori Grill By Dhaba that has a medley of hariyali chicken, malai chicken, lamb kebab and salmon tikka!

The restaurant also meets local demand for office functions, and will shortly be publishing a new menu for the upcoming festive season.

Our top 8 newly opened halal restaurants in London goes from burgers to birds (cooked of course) and even a new award-winning restaurant.

This newly opened halal restaurant hosts a selection of premium gourmet burgers in a menu designed by the former Executive Chef of Meat and Shake, Christian Stoner and promises to be a real treat.

As one of the more innovative newly opened halal restaurants, we’re super intrigued to try the dark chocolate covered barbeque wings… Next In our pick of newly opened halal restaurants is Dhaba@49, a new restaurant in Maida Vale serving up the finest North Indian Cuisine with a European twist.

Whilst not completely new to the London dining scene, the award-wining Sri-Lankan restaurant has to make it onto our newly opened halal list becuase of its huge popularity.

Although the menu features non halal items such as pork and duck, the staff assure us halal food is prepared and cooked separately.

Barrafina - ET Food Voyage

On a Saturday for a late lunch, we decided to visit the Barrafina‘s Adelaide Street branch.

The restaurant is just one big simple room with an open kitchen at the centre surrounded by a long marble countertop bar table.

These tortillas are probably the most signature dish at Barrafina.

With a gentle sprinkle of sea salt on top, it adds a simple touch of elegance to this ordinary dish.

Basically I saw a picture of this dish on Instagram that tags the Adelaide Street branch.
