Bone Daddies – London’s favourite rock n’ roll ramen bar – will celebrate five years of bringing Japanese food with soul to the masses TODAY (Friday 3rd November).

To mark this glorious day, they are giving lucky diners the chance to grab one of the 5 best-selling ramen on the menu for just £5, at all five Bone Daddies sites, for the first five hours of service.

Over the past five years, the success of the first restaurant has led to a further four Bone Daddies sites, situated in High Street Kensington, Bermondsey, Old Street, and most recently, St Christopher’s Place.

Not to mention the two offshoots (‘izakaya-style’ Flesh & Buns in Covent Garden and Shackfuyu on Old Compton Street) The five best-selling ramen will have you covered, whether you’re in the mood for a classic, the rich and flavourful 20-hour pork-bone broth Tonkotsu Ramen or ever-popular T22 ramen with everyone’s favourite topping, the cock scratchings or the vegetarian Mushroom Ramen, or even something a little tangier and saltier such as the Soy Ramen – Bone Daddies has a ramen for all your needs; and who can say no to a hearty bowl of Japan’s best at only £5?

#GORAMEN Celebrations will take place on Friday 3rd November, for the first five hours across all the following Bone Daddies sites: Bone Daddies Old Street The Bower, 211 Old St, London EC1V 9NR

Ramen bar Bone Daddies brings its hip and hugely popular Japanese noodles to St Christopher's Place.

Exclusive to this site, just off Oxford Street, are robata and wok dishes, alongside much-loved Bone Daddies favourites.

These include pork bone broth tonkotsu and sweet and spicy pig bones alongside skewers of chicken, ox cheek, prawns and shiitake mushrooms marinated in kimchee butter and sweet chilli ponzu.

Wok dishes bring choices of yaki soba - stir-fried buckwheat noodles with egg, cabbage, spring onions - and the vegetarian friendly chahan.

The two floor space has the atmosphere of a bustling, urban marketplace with repurposed sake crates as stools and a 9 seater L-shaped bar - get a seat here and expect friendly chatter, dish recommendations and the lure of sake and margaritas from the barman.

As a noodle aficionado, our reviewer finds the dishes at Bone Daddies reassuringly good I always have a tinge of fear when a small independent restaurant I like opens a second and then third location.

Having been a fan of their Japanese ramen noodles in the original Soho location for years, I almost feel like I’m cheating as I walk into their St Christopher’s Place location, a stone’s throw from Selfridges and Oxford Street.

There have always been restaurants on James Street and St Christopher’s Place catering to the bellies of the consumer swarm, namely Pret and similarly banal offerings.

However walking down James Street now you’ll find a plethora of burgers, tapas, Italian, Chinese, Japanese noodles to sustain tourists and locals alike.

For starters, St Christopher’s Place is decorated how you’d expect a Japanese noodle bar to look; in comparison Bone Daddies Soho is positively spartan.

It takes twenty hours for Bone Daddies to create the amazing soup base for their signature Tonkotsu ramens and their efforts have not gone unnoticed!

More than just a restaurant, Mommi is all about great sharing plates, top service, smashing cocktails and mixing cuisines in a very clever way.

The menu features some incredible standout dishes, including the House Ceviche with sea bass, tuna, salmon, sweet potato, red onion, mango and tiger milk, the Flame-Seared Tuna Tataki and the Lamb Cutlets Yakitori with green tea miso.

The best part, for the resident Coeliac on the Secret London team at least, is that everything on Mommi’s menu is totally gluten free (and Coeliac UK accredited, big up 👊).

This is so hard to find when it comes to Japanese food, what with all that dastardly soy sauce, but Mommi have seriously come through with the gluten free goods.

Back in 2012, when Australian chef Ross Shonhan opened his hip Bone Daddies ramen restaurant in London’s Soho, it seemed like a stroke of genius.

Way ahead of the curve, his offering of Japanese 'soul food', set to a rock n’ roll soundtrack, was the first of its kind in London and captured the mood of the dining scene in the capital.

The first of the Bone Daddies restaurants, a Ramen Bar, was opened in 2012 on Soho’s Peter Street by founder Ross Shonhan, with the aim of sparking fresh passion amongst Londoners for Japanese cuisine, in a friendly Rock’n’Roll environment.

Following this opening Ross has gone on to open 6 more sites under the Bone Daddies umbrella.

Following the success of Ross’ Japanese soul food in several London locations, his latest opening came in early 2017 on James Street in St Christopher’s Place.

Bringing a dose of Japanese cool to the thriving St Christopher’s Place community, Bone Daddies St Christopher’s Place is located a stone’s throw away from Oxford Street and set across two floors; the interiors of Bone Daddies James Street, overseen by B3 Designers, take inspiration from Japanese street-style aesthetic.

There are a selection of wok dishes exclusive to the new site, which sit alongside the already much-loved Bone Daddies signature Ramen dishes.
