…not quite the traditional saying, but far more appropriate when it comes to dim sum at Mayfair Garden.

Once you’ve made your selection (I advise to take a few friends so you can order EVERYTHING!)

I don’t usually like char sui buns, but Mayfair Garden’s are fluffy, sweet-and-sour pieces of meaty perfection and play in a league of their own!

But no empty stomach – surprisingly enough, dim sum is very well priced, with most 3-dumpling plates around the £5 pricemark.

See I told you – no matter what you order at Mayfair Garden, you win some, you dim sum!

Come here for a meal right after seeing Brown Hart Gardens.

Being at this restaurant, try fantastic crispy duck, spring rolls and tasty king prawns.

Nice tea will make your meal even more delicious and you'll surely come back.

The dining room had several wooden screens separating some of the tables, which are covered in white linen tabelcloths and napkins.

I went for lunch so opted for the dim sum menu, which the restaurant is noted for, and was much cheaper than the à la carte.

The best dish was a trio of char sui buns (£2.80), light and airy, with a filling of slightly sweet pork.

Lesser versions of this in Chinatown have poor quality, gristly fillings, but the pork here was very good (14/20).

Pan-fried Peking dumplings (£2.90) were perhaps the least good dish but still entirely pleasant.

Long known as a specialist in northern Chinese cuisine, Princess Garden also has a range of dim sum that stands comparison with London’s best.

As you would expect from the Mayfair address, the menu offers plenty of opportunities to splash out.

On a recent visit, the dim sum menu lived up to the restaurant’s name: these little dumplings are fit for royalty.

Enoki and beef cheung fun featured a perfectly steamed, cloud-light giant noodle wrapped around springy little mushrooms, tender beef and just enough water-chestnuts to create an interesting textural play.

Chicken and mushroom steamed buns (baozi) were similarly light in texture, yet deep and rich in flavour.
