Nobu Berkeley Street

Nobu Berkeley ST is located at 15 Berkeley Street in the heart of Mayfair.

The critically acclaimed Nobu Berkeley ST is now one of London's most fashionable restaurants and has also been the venue for some of the capitals most high profile parties.

Located over two floors, Nobu Berkeley St which was designed by celebrated designer David Collins is open for lunch and dinner and houses a suitably glamorous 200 cover restaurant and a stylish, yet relaxed lounge bar with a licence until 2am.

At one side of the restaurant there is a 12 seater sushi bar and on the opposite side is the Hibachi table, available for parties of twelve people.

In January 2006 after only five months, Nobu Berkeley St received a Michelin star, following in the footsteps of Nobu London.

It has a large downstairs bar, attractively designed, while the dining room is upstairs.

The food started very well, with a very fine tuna sashimi salad; this had superb tuna, fresh salad leaves and an attractive, slightly spicy dressing that worked really well (16/20).

A whole poussin cooked in a wood-fired oven was fine, but was served with no sauce and just a few root vegetables, seemed out of place here (14/20).

Peruvian salmon was tender and marinated with a spicy sauce, but this was merely pleasant (12/20).

In summary, while this place is a big commercial success, catering to the rich under 35s, as a dining experience you would be better off either at the original Nobu.

A name that is synonymous with masterful techniques, confident Japanese flavours with a hint of Peruvian influence, and picture-perfect presentation, Nobu Berkeley ST is the second London Nobu restaurant and the place to see-and-be-seen in Mayfair.

Located over two floors with a stylish yet relaxed Lounge Bar, Nobu Berkeley ST is also home to some of London’s most exclusive celebrity parties and events.

“We drove and were happy to see a parking space just outside Nobu which I quickly pulled into.

I am convinced they returned the same dessert to me minus the hair and so I felt unable to eat it..... Whilst I have to say the main course was great and the place itself had a nice buzz, the experience with the door staff and the hair on my dessert means i will not be a repeat customer.”

Signature dishes:Nobu’s black cod with miso is the signature dish to end all signature dishes.

Can there be another dish – other than maybe the Big Mac® – more synonymous with one particular brand?

Nobu Shoreditch is the first Nobu in London to do breakfast.

Nobu Hotel Shoreditch Review, London | Telegraph Travel

The first Nobu hotel in London marries Japanese and East London aesthetics with aplomb.

Don’t miss the cavernous sub-level restaurant, which manages to make you feel like you’re in both Tokyo and London at the same time.

Close to the summit of fine casual dining, the understated Mayfair outpost of Nobu attracts discerning celebs and air-kissing representatives of the glamour industries refuelling on "new style" Japanese cooking.

For ordinary mortals it remains an experience worth paying for - à la carte can be financially bloodcurdling, though you get to sample the full might of Nobu Matsuhisa's vision, which includes superbly executed dishes such as crispy pork belly with spicy miso and yellowtail sashimi with jalapeño.

You could even go for a delicate but delicious mushroom salad (£11.50), padded out with some sashimi, and not fear the credit card statement - that's if you don't succumb to the chocolate Bento box with green tea ice cream for dessert.

The hype has died down, the celebs are long gone, but London’s first branch of Nobu (there’s a second on Berkeley Square) is still a heavyweight on the Japanese dining scene.

Imitations of the restaurant’s signature dishes – black cod with miso, or rock shrimp tempura, for example – can be found on many a menu in the capital these days, but if you want to try the original Nobu Matsuhisa version, then head to Old Park Lane.

Then it’s time to explore the rest of the restaurant’s much-lauded range of Japanese/Peruvian fusion dishes.

A vegetarian dish of tofu anticuchos came bar-marked with a spicy red-pepper sauce.

A meal at Nobu might not come cheap, but a few things are guaranteed: impeccable service, great views (the restaurant overlooks Hyde Park) and perfectly fresh fish.
