Grandly housed in the hotel adjacent to Victoria Station, this Cantonese dining room offers airy surroundings and good-value dim sum (and lunch) menus, making it an ideal daytime rendezvous; by night, it looks set to appeal particularly to the business market.

On the other side of central London, and with less fanfare, Guoman hotels are busy updating the hotel adjacent to Victoria Station.

Sadly, our visit did not allow an extensive sampling of the menu, but one thing is clear: dim sum are very good.

At lunchtime they do a number of good 'deals' too - either just dim sum, or dim sum as part of a somewhat longer menu.

In the evening, we suspect that it's for the business market that this large and undoubtedly well-spaced room is of most interest.

The grand opening kicks off 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. May 7 with “Garden in a Glass,” when folks are invited to bring in their fruits, vegetables and fresh herbs from the Farmers Market to the The Oxford’s bartender who will incorporate them into a distinctive cocktail – The sky is the limit!

From 3 p.m. to 5 p.m., The Oxford will be pouring wine at the Magic of Sunnyvale & Wine Stroll on Murphy Avenue followed by an official ribbon cutting at the restaurant at 5 p.m. with cocktails, appetizers and live music.

The international flavors of the streets of London come alive in dishes such as falafel sliders with mint tahini yogurt ($10); roasted chickpea hummus topped with lamb kabob ($11); grilled cheddar cheese on Panorama sourdough slathered with red onion jam ($12); beer-battered fish and chips with pickled ramp tartar sauce ($14); and the Oxford burger with house-made pickles ($15).

Both classic and contemporary cocktails are spotlighted, including originals such as the Yamato Sling #3 ($8), made with Broker’s Gin, sake, Vanilla-Ceylon Elixir Green Tea, and Blackstrap Bitters; and The Bluejay ($9), a unique blend of Mexican lager, Fidencio Classico Mezcal, grapefruit, lime and Bittercube Jamaican #2 Bitters.

In a nod to London’s long love affair with this botanical spirit, The Oxford also boasts seven gin cocktails.

Surrounded by murals created by Royal Academicians through the ages, the RA Grand Café offers a restful and elegant place to enjoy modern British food.

On a chilly day, why not try one of our hearty dishes, like roast chicken or fish pie – perhaps with a glass of wine or beer from our extensive list.

The RA Grand Café is ideal for a quick bite to eat, a mid-exhibition break, afternoon tea or a long leisurely lunch.

The space has been designed by Design Research Studio under the direction of internationally renowned designer Tom Dixon, with whom we have worked closely to design the interior.

The decor features an impressive glass installation housing sculptures from our permanent collection that have not been in the public view, and selected to complement the design.

Savini at Criterion: restaurant review | Life and style | The Guardian

Meal for two, including drinks and service: £200 The Criterion on London’s Piccadilly Circus is a space in search of a decent restaurant.

At the end of the meal, as I stared back down the long, sparsely populated dining room, the thrum of Kind of Blue echoing off the marble – they play it on a loop – I didn’t feel angry about the outbreaks of clumsy cooking or the ludicrous prices.

The idea of a classic bit of Milan, here on this site in London, doing classic Italian things, is very attractive indeed.

Savini’s take on osso bucco, served in the traditional manner with risotto Milanese, should be the one by which the rest of London’s Italian restaurants benchmark themselves.

■ And so the go-to place in London for comforting but classy Italian food which will punish the wallet but do the thing remains Sartoria, with Francesco Mazzei at the stoves.

The Bottom Line The Wolseley is a cafe-restaurant on Londons Piccadilly worth visiting for its grand interior as well as its excellent Eggs Benedict.

I had to reserve a table but was able to book just a few days before and was informed on the phone that i could have the table for 1.5 hours, which is more than enough time for breakfast.

The Breakfast Menu features lots of pastries and plenty of English options including a bacon and fried egg roll, kippers (fish), and the traditional full English fried breakfast.
