Coborn Arms in Mile End, London Pub Review and Details

I stopped going a few months ago because their glasses always seemed dirty (grime and lipstick) and even requesting a different glass resulted in yet another dirty one.

I went back last night hoping that this had since been fixed, but their glasses are still dirty yet the bar staff try and tell you it's the light (It rubs off with a wet finger!)

The Coborn Mile End | London Pub Reviews | DesignMyNight

Tucked amidst the Victorian terraces of Bow’s Coborn Road, this is a jewel of a boozer that needs discovering.

The Coborn specialises in freshly prepared pub classics, and you can get to grips with everything from Cajun chicken burgers to fresh market fish and toad in the hole.

You could keep it light with something from their all-day brunch menu, too, or just pull up a stool and share a few traditional bar snacks around with your mates.

The bar upholds Young’s top-class rep, with award-winning cask ales available alongside imported beers, premium spirits and wines that are sourced from all over the world.

Pop along after work, for a Sunday roast or on quiz night and get to know this classic pub; easily accessible from both Mile End and Bow Road stations.

Depending on the occasion, enjoy a Sunday roast with the family in the light-filled 'Orangery' conservatory space at the back, spend a working lunch in The Snug at the front or catch up with friends over a couple of pints at the bar.

The following customer reviews are not endorsed by Fluid London and are simply those of users who wish to publish their independent experiences of Coborn Arms.

“On Sunday 2nd July-17 I booked a table for 4 and we intended to order Sunday roast.

When we arrived we were left standing at the bar whilst staff chatted.

I won't be dining at the Coborn Arms again neither will I recommend it.”

Another Young's pub refurbishment, this time in Mile End.

You can usually spot a refurbed Young’s pub a mile off, and it’s not just the brewery’s own beers on the bar.

The Young’s pubs remain, though, and while they’re never groundbreaking or thrilling, they’re straightforwardly reliable: a bit like their beers.

The pub used to be a salt-of-the-earth East End boozer with a dartboard and bags of character, but like many Young’s pubs, it’s had a stylistically makeover, a mishmash of textures, knick-knacks and furnishings.

But it’s a pleasant place to be: there’s a smartly parasolled area out front on the quiet Coborn Road, and inside it’s bright and comfortable, with better beers than other company pubs (Honest Brew’s NZ session ale, say, at £4.25, or some of the last few cans in London of Beavertown’s blood orange IPA at £5.25).
