Palmers Restaurant London - Serving Modern British Food

Palmers Restaurant London - Homepage

We are a family run restaurant (father and son's) and have been in the business all our lifes.

Our aim is to satisfy our custormers with great food and wine with fantastic value, a warm and friendly service as it should be in a family restaurant.

The chef's (son's) have always been very passionate about food from a very young age and have been involved in the kitchen.

All our food is prepared in the restaurant and our fish is purchased from Billingsgate market, vegatables from New spitafields market and our meat is carefully sourced from various butchers.

Palmers – restaurant review

This E2 restaurant may lack the sheen of rival eateries but the cuisine is top quality If you walked past Palmers restaurant on Roman Road, you might not make a point to dine there, not least because it’s often almost-empty.

Run by a Czech father-and-son team, Palmers serves up modern British cuisine with a French twist – a suitably diverse combination for a neighbourhood restaurant in E2.

The ‘rustic’ food zeitgeist has led too many restaurants to think they can get away with anything as long as it’s served on a board.

In the search for a perfect Sunday roast, too many miss a trick by skipping Palmers out.

The Sunday feasts are a neighbourhood staple, filling the place at around £12 a head, and with portions far more generous than the sceney Empress across Victoria Park.

food

Palmers Restaurant is a family run gourmet restaurant creating great modern British grub in an unlikely location.

The menu veers dangerously close to pretension with flashy dishes like foie gras parfait and pig's cheek rillette, but it is all justified by their hearty portions, punchy flavours and fair prices.

The food is thoughtfully sourced with most of the produce coming in from Billingsgate and Spitalfields market.

Dishes like the Suffolk roast pork belly and pig's faggot with butternut squash puree and wild garlic are a big hit with their growing fanbase.

It appears to be an ambitious gamble opening a gourmet restaurant in a downtrodden part of town, but this gamble has certainly paid off.

food

But the corner site, part of an unprepossessing new-build block, and the could-be-anywhere interior with arty photos of food doesn’t give away how special it is.

An extremely generous serving of monkfish and parma ham with asparagus (just in season) was raised to classical heights with a hollandaise-type sauce.

The dashing veggie option was open ravioli of silky sheets of pasta with squash, courgette ribbons and tomato sauce.

Only the wine list is a weakness, but like the food it’s fantastic value.
