Sapori Sardi

Food was amazing, as well as finding real Sardinian products there!

The only thing I would suggest is improving the service.

It was very slow, and not really friendly.

Sardinian people are known to be friendly and easy to go with:service was not representing the real Sardinia unfortunately!

Sapori’s Head Chef Andrea Scarpati is a native of Torre del Greco, Italy.

Andrea worked in several restaurants in Italy and in England before opening his dream restaurant Sapori with his wife Cristina and her brother Luigi in May 2011…a dream that has been crowned with many awards: in 2015 Best Italian Establishment in England at the National Food Awards; Best National Italian Restaurant in 2016 and Best Pasta in 2016 & 2017 at the English Italian Awards.

In March 2017 Chef Andrea has been selected to be a member of Chic, Charming Italian Chef…an association of many great Chefs (more than fifty Michelin stars) who propose an authentic and innovative Italian cuisine.

A great satisfaction that highlights the authenticity of our Italian restaurant!

We hope to see you soon and we will do our best to make sure you enjoy your Italian experience at Sapori and you will return again and again to try the ever changing menu.

Opened in October 2010, Sapori is the first restaurant of its kind in Chelmsford and is located in the Atlantic Hotel.

This essence has been incorporated in every detail of this elegant restaurant and bar; from Massimo Lucchini's creative menus and selected wine list, to the inviting interiors, providing for a comfortable and memorable experience.

The menu focuses on various areas in Italy.

The restaurant interior is comfortable, informal and stylish, with a relaxing lounge area.

The Staff will be happy to assist with your meal choice and recommend wines that would complement it.

Review of London Italian restaurant Sapori Sardi by Andy Hayler in ...

The menu features a number of Sardinian dishes, and the bread is made from scratch in the kitchen; the chef’s father was a baker by training.

A dish of Sardinian gnocchi (£9.95) had with it a sausage ragu, tomato sauce, saffron, rocket and a shaving of pecorino.

A Sardinian fish stew (£18.50) had swordfish, sea bass, prawn and mussels on top of a tomato-based sauce, with some slices of toasted bread, with a green salad to the side.

The sauce was pleasant enough, and the mussels were acceptable, but the fish was wildly overcooked, the swordfish almost rubbery in texture (9/20).

King prawns (£17.95) in lemon garlic and white wine sauce were slightly overcooked, served with a few new potatoes, broccoli and green beans.

In the heart of Anstey, Sapori Restaurant and Bar is an authentic Italian family business, run by head chef Andrea Scarpati, his wife, Cristina, and her brother Luigi.

Since opening in May 2011, Sapori has earned a number of awards, including Best Italian Establishment in England at the National Food Awards in 2015, Best National Italian Restaurant and Best Pasta at the English Italian Awards in 2016 and Best Pasta at the English Italian Awards in 2017.

This is seven hours 'sous vide' (a method which involves food inside a vacuum-sealed container being slow cooked in water or steam) rock octopus, which is then grilled and served with 'pancotto' of broccoli in olive oil, garlic and chili, confit cherry tomatoes, and pickled red onions.

The antipasti selection comprised a superb mix of Italian cured meats, olives, sundried tomatoes, deep fried goat cheese and lovely warm focaccia.

The bruschetta was wonderful - lovely chunks of grilled baguette topped with a generous amount of sweet caramelized onion and pieces of lovely creamy goat cheese.
