Posting holiday photos and tagging locations are putting 40% of holidaymakers at risk of burglary, a new study has revealed.

A new survey has found that social users could be making their homes targets for thieves who are using the technology to track unaware homeowners.

The data, collected by insurance specialist Admiral, showed that one in six social media users have fully open accounts, allowing anyone visibility.

More than one in three (40%) of us post pictures on social media while on holiday, Instagram users being the most likely to do so, with 70% of people Instagramming their holiday.

Nearly a third (30%) have also mentioned a future holiday on social media, notifying followers when they will be away from home.

There’s no mistaking the high quality of life that reverberates round the homes of Kensington.

An affluent and culturally-rich area next-door to the centre of London, Kensington is home to some of the city’s best museums and is a haven for shopaholics.

There are plenty of places to eat and indulge in this luxurious area, both near the parks or the museums.

Or, if you’re feeling particularly cultural, you could find a bite to eat after a concert at the Royal Albert Hall: Kensington is a shopper’s paradise, filled with a multitude of streets, alleys and markets brimming with life – from Portobello Road to the stately department stores of nearby Knightsbridge: Head north-east for a stroll in Kensington Gardens, one of London’s eight Royal Parks, where highlights include the Albert Memorial, Serpentine Gallery and the Italian gardens:

Maida Vale - UnderTheDoormat

Review analysis
location

Maida Vale is a beautiful neighbourhood, an oasis of calm providing a shelter from the hustle of central London.

Framed by London’s most attractive green spaces – in Queen’s Park, Hyde Park and Regent’s Park – it is best known for the canals that bisect the area, rightfully providing its name of ‘Little Venice’.

The area has a long association with pubs and bars – being named after the Hero of Maida inn that used to lie on nearby Edgware Road.

Some of London’s best can be found here, not least by the canals: Maida Vale has a long and illustrious cultural history, particularly with regard to music: artists including David Bowie, Led Zeppelin and Jimi Hendrix have made use of the facilities, not to mention a once little-known group called The Beatles: A walk along the pristine canals will take you past London Zoo, bisecting Regent’s Park and Primrose Hill.

Beyond this there are north London’s sporting highlights, including the world-famous Lord’s cricket ground.

The interior design doyen of Les Couilles du Chien ushers us to the most special addresses in Notting Hill – and we discover treasures that we never knew were there… Paris-born Jerome Dodd is the owner of eclectic antiques store, Les Couilles du Chien (the name is a cheeky nod to the English slang term meaning the very best).

An acclaimed interiors consultant for clients such as LVMH, Roland Mouret and Anya Hindmarch, Jerome’s shops on Golborne Road off Portobello and Church Street in Marylebone have been go-to destinations for architects, artists and designers for over two decades.

Walk a few minutes’ further from Notting Hill, and across Holland Park, and you will find Leighton House Museum, an Arts and Craft gem with a breathtaking ornate Arab hall.

I opened my shop in Golborne Road 25 years ago.

Notting Hill continues to draw independent businesses to its heritage… The Print Room Theatre, Honest Jons Records just off Portobello Road, Lutyens & Rubinstein bookshop on Kensington Park Road are all great examples of this.
