La Pia

La Pia

La Pia has been founded in 1887 in La Spezia.

In few years the shop became a landmark for those looking for a snack or a meal.

Originally the menu was limited to Farinata (a local dish made of chickpeas flour) but in few years it also became popular for its delicious pizza and other genuine products such as focaccia al formaggio, focaccia portfino and focaccia alla nutella.

Tradition and quality has remained unchanged and its products are broadlyknown in Italy.

The menu is well diversified and in addition to pizza it includes gluten free products, a good selection of antipasti and salads as well as Italian wines.

La Pia, a family-run pizzeria, recently opened on Ladbroke Grove and has proved to be an instant success with the locals.

La Pia is the first restaurant the family have launched outside of Liguria, a region in north-west Italy, and offers a rustic and authentic menu including a broad selection of delicious Italian pizza, focaccia and antipasti. Its signature dishes include regional speciality farinata, (a thin, unleavened crepe made with chickpea flour), focaccia al formaggio and focaccia alla nutella.

“La Pia offers the real taste of Italy, we have years of experience operating as a family business since 1887 in the La Pia Centenaria restaurants in La Spezia, Liguria.”

Alessandro Cherchi, La Pia Manager Diners can eat in the 40-seat restaurant or takeway, and as well as offering pizzas in three different sizes the Margherita pizza, farina and focaccia al formaggio can be ordered by slice.

La Pia, 312 Ladbroke Grove, is open for lunch and dinner.

Here at La Pia there are classic Italian pizzas such as margherita, marinara and quattro formaggi, as well as lesser known topping combinations like the central European-style wurstel, with chopped hot dog, the salsicca, with Italian sausage, and salsiccia i friarielli, with sausage and Italian broccoli.

The original La Pia back in the old country originally specialised in just one dish – farinata, a local specialty made from chickpea flour, but here at this modern London incarnation of the restaurant, the menu is as broad as Italy is long.

That said, you can still find farinata on the menu at La Pia’s Ladbroke Grove location, topped with stracchino or gorgonzola cheese, pesto and onions, or matched with a margherita pizza.

Indeed it can be difficult to get to La Spezia itself to experience the flavours of Italy, but if you head to La Pia, you can taste them for yourself in Ladbroke Grove: simply take the train to the eponymous tube station, or the overground at Kensal Green.

Just remember to book a table, however, as this Italian restaurant in West London does get busy on occasion.
