Speaking of which, I had the Honest burger which is made up of beef, red onion relish, smoked bacon, mature cheddar, pickled cucumber and lettuce, all packed into a sweet bun.

Ultimately I’d give this meal a 7/10 – the ingredients were all good and the lager was lovely, but I feel like the burger could have been brought alive with a little spice, so I’ll know to spend the extra £1 for the chipotle mayo next time.

When the meal arrived I was suitably impressed by the huge amount of flavoursome fries, particularly as they weren’t charged as an optional extra like a number of burger joints currently do.

The taste was a little on the sweet side for me, contributed to through a mixture of the copious onion relish and the choice of bun.

Overall I would give the Honest Burgers a 6.5 out of 10 – whilst I am a fan of soft burgers I think it was generally a bit TOO soft (gristle aside), whilst I would look at alternative options for the relish and choice of bun for those who perhaps don’t have such a sweet tooth.

The menu is pretty simple at Honest Burgers – there’s a choice of three burgers: Beef, Chicken or vegetable.

So here’s what we ordered: Honest Burger (£10.50) – contains beef, red onion relish, smoked bacon, mature cheddar, pickled cucumber, lettuce.

The beef patty itself had a crisp outer layer giving the whole burger a nice smokey flavour and the red onion relish had a sweet caramel taste.

Tribute Burger (£10.50) – beef, bacon, American cheese, burger sauce, French mustard, pickles, onion and lettuce.

you're bound to find one near you The Honest Burgers menu is pretty simple - choice of three burgers: Beef, Chicken or vegetable.

Honest Burgers’ Soho branch is an ideal spot for a mid-week dinner date, conveniently located between Piccadilly and Oxford Circus.

Service here is quick but not too quick; the staff are very enthusiastic and attentive, and are also knowledgeable about ingredients if you like a story behind your meat.

The menu is filled with mouth-watering burger options, all accompanied by your choice of delicious toppings such as black forest bacon, smoked Bavarian cheese or mustard mayonnaise.

If that wasn’t enough, every burger comes with a substantial portion of perfectly cooked rosemary salted chips.

Obviously, burgers are what’s on offer, but Honest Burgers still manages to cater for all types of diets.

I quite like burgers but in general they haven’t been my first choice since my teenage days when my mum would treat me to one at the Hard Rock Café on trips to London, in an age when it was probably the only place in town to get a good burger.

Again a friendly welcome, a menu brought, things explained, like the cooking of the burgers to pink inside (if you want well done then you need to ask at this point), what the special was that day; and we were asked if we had any allergies or special requirements (you can ask for gluten free buns).

Well, I was in Honest Burgers for the first time so really the only burger to choose was an Honest Burger: beef, red onion relish, smoked bacon, mature cheddar, pickled cucumber and lettuce (£10.95), but there are chicken and vegetarian options.

The burgers are served in a glazed brioche bun and come with Honest Burgers’ signature rosemary salted chips.

I really don’t think I’ve been so excited by a burger since my teenage trips to Hard Rock Café and I’m definitely going back to Honest Burgers soon!

When Honest Burger set up their first restaurant in Brixton Village they set out to do one thing well: a high quality, simple burger menu inspired by great British produce.

The 'Honest experience' has always been about food that is tasty and simple, no frills and no messing around.

Set just off Dean Street in the heart of the historic centre of London, Honest Burger Soho was their second (of 22!!)

restaurant and now takes group bookings for 8+ and has it’s own private downstairs space available for burger parties for up to 35 guests.

So we spent a long time getting to know the best butchers in London.

And now we're butchers too.
