Hix Soho turns eight this year, and it’s celebrating by going fanatical about fish.

Its new menu is focused on seasonal seafood, with a new wine and cocktail list to match.

Mark Hix, of course, our esteemed columnist and owner of eight restaurants, not including Mark’s Bars.

Comfort is the name of the game at Hix Soho.

The main dining room, complete with a baby grand piano, is overlooked by Charming Baker’s ‘Faith’s Leap’ and the walls of the striking open-plan kitchen are built with the Himalayan salt bricks that are used to age our beef.

Offering a variety of flexible private dining spaces for corporate and social events, Hixter is also licensed for wedding ceremonies.

The CNB dining room is a bright space bathed in natural daylight enveloped by Luke Embden’s pop-art mural.

The opulent Bull Room with large windows and velvet curtains lends itself to breakfast meetings, private dining and drinks receptions.

Like its sister bar in Soho, the understated luxury of Mark’s Bar Bankside offers the perfect setting for drinks parties or feasting.

Done right, a cocktail bar is the sweetest place in the world.

Housed in the basement of Hix on Brewer Street, the space works with a long bar that stretches across the room with front row seating all the way.

But we’re not picky so we keep our heads up and refrain from eyeing the floor.Obviously, a cocktail bar is only as strong as its cocktails, which makes Mark’s Bar pretty tough.

Mark’s Bar uses the best British spirits and liqueurs, a combination of ancient drinks recipes and Hix originals.

The bar also serves ‘snax’ from quails eggs to oysters, fish fingers to steak tartare. As we said, done right, a cocktail bar is the sweetest place in the world.

A spokesperson told BigHospitality that the restaurant closed after the ten-year partnership between HIX and Brown's Hotel came to an end.

The chef shut HIX Belgravia and Mark’s Bar at the Belgraves Hotel in 2012 and HIX City in Devonshire Square in 2015.

The chef currently operates five London restaurants, including HIX Soho and chicken and steak restaurant Tramshed, alongside three Mark’s Bars.

The former HIX Mayfair site is currently trading as The Restaurant at Brown's Hotel, but will not be without a famous resident for long.

The hotel has announced that Heinz Beck, chef at three-Michelin-starred La Pergola in Rome, will host a six-week pop-up in the space from 13 November.

The basement bar of HIX restaurant, Mark's bar in Brewer Street Soho is a cool apothecary cocktail bar.

Mark's has a lovely atmosphere, full of old school charm enhanced by a bar billiards table, smokey mirrors and leather chesterfields.

Under the dimmed lights couples can get snug and enjoy an intimate drink together The cocktails are fantastic for taste and variety and are mixed by a bartender superstar Nick Strangeway (formerly of the Hawksmoor).

This is the perfect place for chilling with mates, in both big and small groups, and for intimate date nights.

Mark's get hired out a lot for private parties, so they suggest calling and checking that they are open to the public before planning your visit.
