Thereafter, it’s pretty much a case of following the clues released by each puzzle all the way to the ultimate conclusion of the game.

Where the average escape room uses numbers and padlocks to restrict how the players move through the game, here solving puzzles typically resulted in us receiving a set of instructions to follow.

The feeling that things were hiding in front of us waiting for a reveal was a great addition to the room and worked in very much the same way as the use of gadgetry in other games might work to create a feeling of magic.

The “hard” mode added what felt like the weakest puzzle in the game (although still potentially doable) and it didn’t add to the experience.

It’s the sort of game where everyone can get involved and that is easily accessible for first-timers while still having enough that’s different from your average escape room to engage enthusiasts.

In a nutshell: Hearty food and drink for cyclists Summing it all up: Very good news for South London bike lovers - the ever popular Putney cycle caf Dynamo has branched out to Balham, bringing its range of hearty food, cold drinks, coffees and to the cycling community.

Which is something that cycle cafe The Dynamo, with its sourdough pizzas, rosemary fries and shawarma lamb, knows only too well.

Now, the Putney cycle cafe and restaurant is expanding its operation to Balham, where it’ll be opening up another base for those bravely zoom about London's bus lanes et al.

In fact, the spot’s been specifically chosen due to its proximity to a popular cycle route, so it should be busy.

Staff lovely but extremely slow to take orders/clear tables.

First time for dinner last night, had previously been for breakfast, which is very good.

It's a bike themed cafe with bike racks just inside the door, but you don't have to be wearing lycra to fit in Great new cafe restaurant serving breakfast and light meals.

Although the staff were lovely individuals they were very under staffed, we waited a really long time just for a drink, one of our meals arrived while the rest of us were half way through eating.

The toilets were flooded, which meant a queue for the disabled toiled which was absolutely filthy (due to muddy cyclists and no time for them to be monitored by staff) Service charge was added to the bill - think that was a bit optimistic!

At this cycle café, we were mentally willing the guy serving us to remember his lines.

The café’s basement workshop will serve refreshments with your repairs when it opens later in the spring, but for now, the cycling theme is purely cosmetic: bike hooks in the spacious entrance, framed Tour de France jerseys and dishes referencing legendary cycling routes.

The kitchen does thoughtfully enhanced versions of brunch faves: creamy, sticky ‘100-mile’ porridge packed with mashed banana, date syrup, crunchy seeds and a vanilla hit of cocoa nibs; avo and poached eggs on sourdough toast, lifted with a sprinkling of citrussy dukkah.

So the kitchen is a winner, and the space is smart – only diffident staff put a spoke in the wheel.

Perhaps they can book a service at the workshop.
