The Black Horse is a 17th century craftsman’s cottage, lovingly extended and refurbished into an excellent village pub that would put many of the London gastro pubs to shame.
The pub is open all day for breakfast, lunch and dinner and holds events and barbeques in the summer in the charming, spacious garden.
There is a post box outside the pub, painted gold in honour of Rio, Sophie Christiansen’s Olympic-winning horse (which is stabled at the local Riding for the Disabled Association).
The Black Horse team host charity events and auctions and like to support local issues.
The menu goes beyond what one would expect from pub food – you can also sample Goat’s Cheese, Asparagus, Broad Bean and Pea Risotto or a Fillet of Seabass with Crayfish Hollandaise and Samphire, followed by home-made ice cream or perhaps something from the international wine list.
