Enoteca Super Tuscan – Italian Wine Bar and Kitchen Spitalfields, London

The Piedmontese breed is fed on a diet of grass, cereals and pulses resulting in a meat that is low in external fat, tender and bursting with flavour.

This is one of the highest quality beef breeds in Italy.

Restaurants don’t get much more Soho than the buzzy Bocca di Lupo just off Rupert Street where a daily-changing menu spans small and larger plates of vibrant, feel-good food.

If you’re happy to soak up some bustle, a seat at the bar, a few small plates starting around £7 and a glass or two from the extensive Italian wine list is a fine way to spend an evening.

Food is kept simple, with hefty and creative antipasti platters among the most popular wine-soaking orders; homemade pastas, grilled meats and Tuscan bean stews are also well worth a go.

Specialising particularly in rich, meat and cheese-led dishes from Northern Italy, Mele e Pere in Soho pleases with a mix of boldly-flavoured salads, small antipasti-style plates and indulgent pastas that make frequent and liberal use of truffles, parmesan and butter.

In fact, you'll probably see the chef (glass of wine in hand) carefully dishing up plates of food at the open kitchen as you tuck into specialities including meat and fish from the charcoal grill and gutsy freshly-made pastas.

An Italian wine bar and kitchen tucked away down Artillery Passage, in Spitalfields.

Enoteca Super Tuscan's not all about the wine, though.

A good selection of stuzzichini (small plates) includes bruschetta and arrancinetti (here made with smoked pancetta, mozzarella and n’duja sausage) to pizzetta, bianchetti and fagioli alla Toscana - a traditional Tuscan dish of cannellini beans served with crostini and and olive oil.

Pasta, carne and pesce options include mushroom tortelloni, char-grilled, herb marinated chicken escalopes, a slow-cooked veal and petits pois stew and salsicce Toscana con lenticchie - a classic Tuscan dish of char-grilled sausages flavoured with fennel seeds.

It's Tuscany that features most, though, with recognisable options alongside those from small producers, fine cellar reds and bona-fide Super Tuscans, such as a 2009 Tignanello Antinori - a blend of sangiovese, cabernet sauvignon and cabernet franc.

Everyone on the planet remembers Homer Simpson's quote "you don't make friends with salad", this may be the case if you are struggling to piece together a tasty low calorie meal before you hit the hay after a long day in the office.

Places like Pret-a-Manger and EAT provide these solutions, however if you have the extra quid or two I recommend you hit up La Bottega , which gives a whole new meaning to the concept of a salad.La Bottega, situated on Lower Sloane Square in Chelsea, is home to possibly the tastiest, freshest salads on the west side.

I recommend the large (6), you can't go past it, you will eat it all.

I guarantee.La Bottega are not only masterchefs on the modern salad front, but also make fantastic coffee.

They have a loyal following who are quickly converted upon their first visit.Fresh salads, great coffee, and fantastic customer service make La Bottega a definite place to visit for your guilt free healthy fix.
