Orange Buffalo close at 8pm most days, and that is when they don't occasionally shut up shop early or rain stops play because they are outside, not an appealing prospect when winter is coming.

And if you want to quench your chops with a nice tin of your favourite lager beer the Buffalo doesn't serve it, so prepare to have to circumnavigate the Ely's Yard militia, jobsworth bouncers ready to stop anyone carrying anything even resembling booze from getting near the place.

You could trek over to Old Street and MEATmission.

But, there is a closer option literally round the corner, just off the serendipitously named Chicksand Street: a bricks and mortar operation with regular opening hours and a liquor licence.

Cheese and Biscuits: Sticky Wings, Brick Lane

Both were not just poor but memorably inept, Chooks being a particularly lazy leap onto the chicken bandwagon, and the Domino's wings came with a vegetarian pizza.

On the one hand there are the MeatLiquor Bingo Wings, generous in flavour and portion size, and now served with even more of their lovely chunky blue cheese dip.

Sticky Wings began life in the wilds of Lewisham but struggled with the lack of passing trade, staff, opening hours, basically everything you might expect when trying to run a restaurant in Lewisham.

First things first and if you take only one bit of information away from this post, make sure it's this - the Sticky Wings' American Buffalo wings are about as good an example as I've found anywhere in the world.

We also tried a small portion of the hot chilli wings, their fierce heat generated by pickled ghost chilli amongst other things.

Cafe Rasa Malaysia | Halal Food Guy

There are a lot of halal food options in Westfield Stratford, the food court is a great place for eating after a shopping session.

Located on the bottom floor, near waitrose and towards Stratford International Entrance is the small Cafe Rasa Malaysia.

The venue is small, just a couple of tables so not ideal for large groups.

I ordered a couple of dishes, Roti Cani, Beef Rendag and Kway teow goreng with chicken.

The stand out dish was the Kway teow goreng with chicken.

Surrey Arms is funky upmarket high street Pub, with a lovely cocktails range.

We have a range of events and offers during the week; ranging from Crafty Monday, Pie & Pint to a DJ at the weekend till 2am.

Our team of Bar Staff are trained in a range of Cocktails (We offer 2for1 on Cocktails Monday to Friday after 5pm till 9pm) and have a wide knowledge about Ales, Lagers, Wines and much more.

We also try and source locally produced Ales, for example using Breweries such as Hogs Back near Guildford and Upham near Basingstoke.
