The best breakfasts and brunches in Brixton, from a good full English to American pancakes, jerk sausages and even Huevos Rancheros 1 The Blues Kitchen The Blues Kitchen is at the top of the charts, offering up a mean feast, morning, noon and night.

Their brunch offerings include an English Breakfast, an American breakfast (pancakes, bacon, BBQ beans), a healthy breakfast (poached eggs, grilled avocado), Creole Crab Benedict with crispy fried crab cakes or even Huevos Rancheros (fried eggs on fried corn tortillas topped with chorizo, beans, cheese and salsa – hello!)

40 Acre Lane, Brixton SW2 5SP; 020 7274 0591; theblueskitchen.com 2 Seven at Brixton  The tapas-inspired menu at Seven at Brixton in Brixton Market includes a Full Spanish breakfast (chorizo, morcilla de burgos, fried eggs, pimenton beans, tomato and toast, with tea or coffee, £9.75), an open bap with chorizo, morcilla de burgos, tomato and fried egg (£5.25),  and even churros con chocolate (£3.50).

You can get lots of lovely eggs on muffins, lots of lovely avocados on sourdough toast, blueberry pancakes with maple syrup and bacon, and of course a full English.

Dining Beyond Zone 1: Wild Caper | Londonist

food   value

That may change: Wild Caper has just started serving fully-fledged dinners every bit as flavoursome as its Neapolitan sourdoughs.

We started with the Roast Pumpkin soup, a velvety, nutty number topped with pesto and, best of all, served with hunks of the famous house bread.

The best bit about dining at Wild Caper is the prices.

Its breads may be dear, but for now its dinners offer excellent value - this two-course meal, plus a shared piece of rosemary, lemon and (following the theme) olive oil cake for desert and a bottle of perfectly decent house white came to just over £40, excluding the very friendly service.

food

This Brazilian restaurant on Brixton's Market Row gets its name from what residents of Rio de Janeiro are sometimes called.

So, as you might expect, the focus is on Brazilian food and drink.

During the day maize muffins are served, topped with options such as poached egg, pulled braised beef, fried plantain and black bean stew (the 'copacabana') and pan-fried chorizo slices with capers, a tapenade of sun-dried tomatoes and bell pepper (the 'carioca').

After 5pm it's dishes such as feijoada and favela cantagalo – a dish of braised beef slow-cooked with bell peppers, onions and spices, and served with white cabbage 'slaw, crispy sweet potato, fresh chilli and watercress salad over a fried cassava rosti.

A snack menu features traditional coxinhas (chicken croquettes), honey-glazed chorizo and chicken wings.
