At JOES we are passionate about our local community, and thrive on brightening up our customer’s day – whether it’s with our delicious homemade food, a great cup of coffee, or a friendly chat.
By day we operate as a lively cafe with all the trimmings you’d expect, and by night we transform into a relaxing bar complete with carefully chosen wine list, delicious cocktails and a burger and tapas menu to go alongside.
You’ll find us conveniently located on Tooting High Street, close to St George’s Hospital and St George’s University, and we welcome you to join us for a Portuguese-inspired breakfast, a leisurely lunch, slice of homemade cake with coffee or perfectly mixed tipple alongside tapas in the late evening.
With our vibrant atmosphere and warm and welcoming service, JOES is a home away from home for Tooting locals.

So it was with some trepidation that I approached Texas Joe’s, opened off the back of an appearance on Dragons’ Den (and, more recently, a number of London pop-ups) from jerky peddling Texan Joe Walters.
Texas Joe’s has gone all out in bringing the Lone Star state to London.
The menu is delivered in a newspaper that features articles specially written for Texas Joe’s by some of the world’s foremost BBQ experts.
Mac and cheese is as gooey and yellow as you could hope but I get significant food envy watching lengths of bubbling bone marrow being carried to the table next door.
The food at Texas Joe’s doesn’t push the envelope in the way somewhere like Pitt Cue does.

With mixed emotions, we write this post to let our loyal fans know that Joe’s Southern Table & Bar will officially closed its doors at 34 King Street on Sunday 8th April 2018.
Our sister restaurant, Maxwell’s Bar & Grill, famous for award winning burgers and freakshakes, will be moving in from Tuesday 10th April.
We’ve also managed to convince the Chef to keep some of Joe’s most popular dishes and cocktails on the menu for those who need a Joe’s fix!
The Joe’s Southern Table & Bar team would like to thank all our wonderful guests for their custom and loyalty during our time at 34 King Street and we look forward to sharing more amazing memories with you in the very near future.

Also: let’s say that scrupulously healthy eating adds 10 years to your life.
Well, it won’t be an extra 10 years of being 18, or 25; the extra 10 will simply get added on at the end.
It’s an extra 10 years of being old.
Nothing wrong with being old, obviously, but if I have to give up all the unhealthy food I enjoy in order to add 10 years to my life, then I want it to be an extra 10 years of being young, so that I can make the most use of them.
