We have a landscaping patio out the front of the pub, and a large beer garden out the back, with a covered and heated shelter, suitable for functions or just a drink, and also a separate dog garden for your pet to use, complete with water and bins.

We have also just opened our new 'Regal Room', a function room perfect for any occasion!

In a room north of the hall at the north-east corner, the remains of a small winding staircase of brick and stone, which led originally to the upper part of the mansion was found on taking down the wainscot.

An apartment on the principal storey contained a pointed arched fireplace, enriched panelling of oak, and a bay window, together with its size, being larger than the other apartments, would prove this to have been the grand room of the house.

[3] A room on the east side was wainscoted and panelled in a plain style; a long window extended the whole length of the east end of the apartment, and a thick beam crossed the ceiling, supported at each end by rude pieces of timber.

The upper rooms were lofty and airy, the space usually divided off into lofts being open to the roof—showing the heavy beams and girders in all their rude simplicity, the windows small and near the roof, the doorways narrow and low, and formed roughly of unplaited boards—opening by a wooden latch and spring.

[3] In the apartment on the south side of the hall was a trap door, which opened onto a short flight of winding stairs leading into a vaulted cellar, built of brick with courses of stone, having a recess on the north side.

The Golden Lion | Hotels In Rochester - J D Wetherspoon

From the early 19th century until the 1920s, 147 High Street had been The Golden Lion.

Before the late 1940s, 149 High Street was the Rochester, Chatham and Gillingham Savings Bank, while, before that, it was the City of Rochester and General Permanent Benefit Building Society (in the 1930s and dating from at least the turn of the century).

The Golden Lion review: A popular spot for Mayfair's city workers ...

The Golden Lion on King Street is a popular haunt amongst Mayfair’s city workers, and represents a good stopping-off point for punters on their way home from the office.

Nestled in amongst the luxurious offices and flats in the area, the pub’s grand, curved exterior, with stained glass windows, make the Golden Lion a welcoming prospect.

The kitchen serves up a variety of unpretentious pub favourites, and the bar serves a wide selection of high-quality lagers and beer on tap.

Give it a try the next time you find yourself in the area.
