Cocotte Notting Hill

Healthy Rotisserie

Cocotte - Healthy Rotisserie | Healthy Rotisserie

“Run by a group of Parisian friends, Cocotte is a French farm-to-table chicken rotisserie, based in the heart of Notting Hill.

Founders Romain, Ziad and Capucine opened this healthy establishment in February 2016, as they felt that London was missing a wholesome French rotisserie.

The chickens are then marinated for 24 hours in Cocotte’s secret recipe of herbs and spices.

The menu also includes lighter options – like various salads, which all have traditional female French names – or more decadent ones like mac and cheese or even potatoes roasted in chicken dripping.

The menu was created by Romain, the chef of the group, who took on this challenge after completing many years in a number of Michelin-starred restaurants including Villa Lauraine (1*) and Le Chalet de la Foret (2*).”

Cocotte Rotisserie Notting Hill London Review

Cocotte is Notting Hill’s latest rotisserie restaurant, inspired by the chicken takeaway sites popular in Paris and it offers a healthy alternative for sit-in or takeout and for lunch or dinner.

Paula and I ordered a half chicken (quarter and full are available) and all three of the classic sides; mac and cheese, mashed potatoes and the roasted new potatoes.

The sides were perfect accompaniments, the mashed potato was a great mix of butter and cream, velvety smooth, seasoned well and went great with the chicken.

The roasted baby potatoes were cooked in the secret sauce from the chicken and they were so tasty, so tasty in fact that I ate them all and even asked what they were cooked in and the sauce they were sitting in – of course secret sauce club resumed.

The truffle mayo went particularly well with the chicken and the roasted baby potatoes.

They are then roasted on a hot spit.

In addition, the healthy menu at Cocotte is also full of salads with some lovely combinations of ingredients.

Perhaps this is trying a touch too hard to be healthy, when really for dessert all I want is butter, fat, and sugar.

If you’re also in the mood to rediscover West London, and for a juicy bit of chicken, then Cocotte is a winner.

Cocotte specialises in succulent rotisserie chicken with Parisian flair.

Their free-range chicken is marinated for 24 hours in homemade sauces, giving a real depth of flavour.

Try any size of chicken with homemade truffle mayo and a side of mac & cheese.

Not p}(‘0.6(” that London needed another cluckin’ chicken joint, but we got one and Cocotte is doing it right.

Taking roost in Notting Hill, the healthy rotisserie serves up free-range birds from La Chapelle d’Andaine farm in France.

With a simple menu, the marinated roast chicken takes centre stage and comes either whole, half or quartered.

But the real dilemma is choosing sides from the HUGE list of healthy salads including our fave, the Fernande salad with barley, pomegranate, feta, baby salad and spring onions to the less healthy truffle mac ‘n’ cheese and THOSE baby roast potatoes with chicken gravy.

When it came to dessert the selection is small but their mochi; small balls of ice cream coated in a sticky rice cake, are perfect if you’ve over indulged (and let’s face it you will have) Cocotte might be the new kid on the block, but this neighbourhood joint definitely isn’t wingin’ it.

‘Healthy chicken’ doesn’t exactly have a finger-licking ring to it, but that’s not a problem for Cocotte, which proudly brands itself as a healthy rotisserie.

Consider it more like a Nando’s for the clean-living: a small and modern dining room serving roast chicken on wooden boards (£7 a quarter, £12 a half).

Then there are seven homemade sauces, simple sides and pretty salads made with superfoods such as quinoa.

The quarter I ordered was stiff and bland, while a forgettable truffle mac and cheese (£6) was missing the unmistakable gooeyness of a mac that means business.

On the other hand, the ‘raymonde’ (£6) – a tasty melee of quinoa, cherry tomatoes and bulgur – lived up to expectations.
