Latin American cuisine is known for its variety of flavours, distinctive spices and fresh ingredients and we have gone all out to bring you a creative experience of fresh aromas and innovative recipes.

Rafael, our sommelier, is on hand to pair particular dishes with wines by the glass.

We will be hosting the first of a series of ‘Latin American Wine Dinners’ on Thursday 19th April.

Our wine list is hand picked by one of the best Latin American Sommeliers in London.

We always suggest savouring the premium spirits straight, but don’t miss out on our creative cocktails which offer a fresh twist on the classic Latin American favourites.

Paladar is a creative Latin American restaurant, wine bar and Bodega, located in the heart of London SE1.

Our cuisine is inspired by the foods, flavours and cooking styles common to many of the countries and cultures of Latin America – Spanish and Portuguese-speaking America including some Caribbean islands, such as Cuba, which are culturally Latin American.

While London is rich with restaurants dedicated to the cuisines of Latin America’s individual countries, Paladar brings something new to the city’s restaurant landscape, focusing on bringing together the best food, drink and culture of the whole of Latin America, rather than just one country.

One of London’s top Latin American sommeliers, Rafael began his career at Harvey Nichol’s 5th floor restaurant, and then moved on to work for Gordon Ramsay, Jason Atherton’s Maze and Sushisamba.

For us this means making sure we bedeck our walls with original art, serve up new Latin music styles and allow them to take a piece of Paladar home with them when they buy wines and other goodies in our bodega.

Max Reich starts London restaurant Rubio | The Resident Gourmet

Max Reich and Simon Marlin, aka chart-topping house music duo The Shapeshifters, have founded Rubio, a cool new restaurant-cum-music venue in north west London Nine albums, 28 singles and 20 years of chart-topping house music.

After conquering the music world as one half of house music duo The Shapeshifters, Max has turned his attention to the London food scene.

Despite Max’s successful music career, it has always been something of a dream of his to open his own restaurant.

Unsurprisingly for Max, it’s as much about the music as it is about the food.

Of course, the music part of the Rubio experience receives just as much attention as the food and drink.

I’ve been bleating about Basque beef ever since my steak tour of San Sebastian, a city in the Basque area of northern Spain.

In contrast, the steak from the Rubio Gallega is from cows between 12 and 15 years old (while the Vaca steak is up to 6 years old).

We ordered steak for three, this consisted of a 1.2kg Rubio Gallega Txuleton and a 540gm Vaca steak.

The Rubio gallega steak, with an enormous rib bone adjacent to meat was jaw dropping in its beauty.

The steak was so good, that our Scottish companion (pictured) claimed the rib bone from the Rubio Gallega steak and spent the best part of 15 minutes harvesting every fibre of flesh from it.
